TheSuperNerd: Overhead kicks are a big part of the game but wat we lack is know how. This is not a game u can just show and play, we have to remember the majority of our team were NPFL players, they might be in good football shape but beach soccer is not the same, our guys simply lost their legs. It would be better to use non league players who practice their craft year round. We can then add one or two pros when the time comes. 1 Like |

Exclusive Interview with Leon Balogun ‘We must win against South Africa and Cameroon’ Leon Balogun is a Super Eagles defender who plays for FC Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga. In this exclusive interview with thenff.com 's AYO OLU IBIDAPO, he opens up on his partnership in defence with William Ekong, the Eagles' camping in London and of course, Super Eagles’ upcoming AFCON and World Cup qualifying matches. EXCERPTS: Q: How would you describe your season with FC Mainz 05? Balogun: This season for the club has been exciting, though there has been a lot of ups and downs but we are fighting to survive and escape relegation. I think from the last games we've played like those we played against Hertha (Berlin) and Bayern (Munich), we did our best and had fair results - a win against Hertha, and a draw against Bayern at the Allianz Arena. Playing in three different competitions really affected us: That is the Europa League, DFB Pokal and the League. I think we've managed through and we will did well to escape relegation. For me personally, the season could have been better. I would have loved to play more games but also you can see positive trend in the last games. I know its all about the team and if that means that I don't get too many games I certainly understand that, the main thing is for the team to stay in the Bundesliga. Q: Now to the Super Eagles, the team had a nice time in London in March. The next time the team will gather will be in France ahead of the game against South Africa. What are your thoughts about the camping in London and the game against South Africa? Balogun: The camping in the UK was very nice. I think we have a lot of players playing in Europe and it was good we were able to use the time to bond; it really would help as we continue to blend. There wasn't too much stress for us, as it was near by and everyone could quickly assemble. Ahead of South Africa game, if we remain focused we have quality young players to beat any team in Africa. Super Eagles camped in London in March for the friendly game against Senegal Q: Let's talk about your partnership with Ekong, what do you think of it? And the camping in France, you think it is a nice idea? Balogun: William is my brother and both of us have played a couple of games together and we have formed a good partnership on the field of play. Off the pitch, we are friends and that is having very positive impact on our game when we play together in the back-line for the Super Eagles. We know each other and we know what the other is thinking, that has helped our game a lot. On the choice of the the training camp in France, it is a beautiful idea by the NFF as it will be good to be together for 8-9 days before we leave for Uyo. Q: South Africa are our next opponents, but at the moment, they don't have a coach, what do you think? Balogun: The thing is a coach guides a team, gives them ideas on how to play and also presents a team that will play so it doesn't matter whether they have a coach or not, it's the players on the pitch that matters. They are the ones who will perform and show their quality on the field. Perhaps before we play them, they would have hired a coach who will still give them ideas on how to play us so I think it will be an interesting game. I played against South Africa once before; I know they have quality players and it will be tough game. I expect a hard game against South Africa. Q: Finally, two questions in one, what do you think about the game against Cameroon (it comes after South Africa) and then, what's your take about the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where we've been playing our matches recently? Balogun: About Cameroon, it's a crucial game and a home game we must win. At home we have everything under our control, we must use that to our advantage. Another advantage is Uyo, our current home ground. Uyo has become a fortress for us. I think it is one of the reasons for our successes in recent times. Uyo fans have shown so much love for the team and that has been very great. The ground is great and the training pitch is also good. And the Akwa Ibom State government has been very supportive of our cause. Cameroon is a strong team, after winning AFCON 2017 they've built up their confidence but by the time we will play them it would be six months after their win in Gabon, we must show them we want the win more than they do. We need to make sure we get the maximum three points to take our points’ tally to 9; that will give us a big edge over other teams including Cameroon. I'm seriously looking forward to the game; we want to show them that we are better than them. We are already dreaming of Russia 2018, but we know we must work harder. We will ensure we win all our matches especially our home games. Q: Thank you very much for your time, Leon. It's a pleasure talking to you. Balogun: Thanks Ayo. Eagles Goalkeeper Crisis – Orlando Pirates Emmanuel Daniel Placed On Standby By Rohr In a bid to avoid the drama that made Nigeria to call up an emergency goalkeeper during their last training camp in London, the technical crew of the Super Eagles have placed ex Nigeria U-23 safe hands Emmanuel Daniel on standby. The Super Eagles are to have a training camp in France later in the month, but there are doubts over the availability of two of their regular shot stoppers for various reasons. Carl Ikeme is still injured, while second choice shot stopper Daniel Akpeyi might miss the get together due to club engagement, for now only Dele Alampasu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are sure bet to join the team in France. Considering the fact that Nigeria will take on Corsica Island in a friendly game on the 26th of May, coach Gernot Rohr feels there’s a need for a third goalkeeper. Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel who has trained with the team in the past has been placed on standby by the technical crew, pending on when they get an update on the fitness of Ikeme. Daniel is yet to play a game for Pirates due to registration issues, but Rohr wants to work with almost same pool of players he has worked with in the past, hence his decision to include him in the squad despite his inaction at club level. **Osas Mahawi Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/05/02/eagles-goalkeeper-crisis-orlando-pirates-emmanuel-daniel-placed-on-standby-by-rohr/ 1 Like |

NFF begins process to make Chelsea Star, Ola Aina free for Super Eagles In a move to ensure that the Super Eagles Technical Adviser is encouraged to use all the players in his plans to return Nigeria to international football, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has commenced moved to seek FIFA approval for switch of allegiance for Chelsea star, Ola Aina. Aina had trained with the Super Eagles at the Hive stadium last month in London and convinced Technical adviser, Gernot Rohr who has expressed his desire to have him in the new Super Eagles list that will train in Corsica, France, ahead of the 2019 AFCON qualifying match against South Africa. NFF sources informed that the Chelsea youngster is expected this week to file his application to world football body, FIFA, for a change of allegiance from England to Nigeria “We are on the process of securing the release of Aina for the Super Eagles by FIFA. The request has been submitted to FIFA for approval,” an NFF source said at the weekend. Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has asked for the use of the Chelsea player, who has already represented England at U16, U17, U18, U19 and u20 levels, but has expressed his decision to switch allegiance to Nigeria at the senior level. Exclusive: Chelsea Loanee Omeruo, Onazi Omitted From Nigeria Roster For Paris Training Camp Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that two Turkish-based stars in the shape of Kenneth Omeruo and assistant skipper Eddy Onazi have been omitted from the Super Eagles roster for a training camp in France which begins in three weeks time. That's not to say the Chelsea loanee and Trabzonspor midfielder are not in contention to add to their international caps when the national team trades tackles with South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifier. Omeruo and Onazi have not been called up because the Turkish Super Lig will conclude on June 3, just a week before the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Bafana Bafana. It is envisaged that the two players, particularly Onazi, will head straight to Uyo for the second phase of camping after their team's last matches. Nigeria will face Corsica on May 26 in a friendly and there's a possibility of another friendly against a yet to be determined opponent at the end of this month. **Ifeanyi Emmanuel Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22911 1 Like |

More Speculations as regards the list.... the official list will reveal the players for the France camp eventually... just a matter of time.... ............................................................................................... Ex-Nigeria U20 Skipper Mohammed Will Not Train With Eagles In France, Ebuehi Invited Zeljeznicar right fullback Musa Mohammed has been left out of Nigeria's roster for a get-together in Corsica and Paris later this month, allnigeriasoccer.com understands. As it is, 23 players, including four players based in the domestic championship, have been called up for the training camp, which begins on May 23 in Corsica. Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has kept his promise and will run the rule over ADO Den Haag wing-back during the training camp. The squad for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa will be finalized after the team's camp. Musa Mohammed has fond memories of France as it was in the country the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles skipper made his senior debut against Mali in an international friendly a year ago. **Ifeanyi Emmanuel Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22912 1 Like |

QPR Wonderboy Ebere Listed By Rohr For Super Eagles Camp In France One of the players on the provisional list of coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr for the Eagles get together in France is Ebere Eze, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal. The QPR teen wonder impressed Rohr during the Eagles training session in London, and has been handed another chance by the coach during their camp later in the month. London born Ebere is eligible to play for Nigeria and England, but Nigeria have moved ahead of England in the race for his international future following his involvement in the Eagles session in London. 18 year old Ebere moved to QPR in the summer from Millwall on a free transfer, joining the U-23s of the Championship side but he has since made the step up to the main team following a string of fine performances for the junior side. **Osas Mahawi Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/05/02/qpr-wonderboy-ebere-listed-by-rohr-for-super-eagles-camp-in-france/ 2 Likes |

Mikel, Carl Ikeme set to miss Bafana match Super Eagles’ Captain, John Mikel Obi, who recently underwent surgery looks set to miss the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on June 10. Mikel is currently recuperating in England and is in a race against time to be fit for the game. Another worry is ; Eagles number one goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme and Vincent Enyeama, who Coach Gernot Rohr wanted to come out of retirement to replace Ikeme, are both out injured. With the injury list increasing, Rohr will have to tinker with his squad as the team gets set for the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. The game against Bafana Bafana might have come too soon for the Tianjin Teda captain as his camp has suggested he might skip the June 10 game and try to make the game against Cameroun in August. Mikel, alongside the other Nigerian contingent in China, were not selected for the recent friendly against Senegal with Rohr electing to allow them to concentrate on their league games, which were about to start then. The Super Eagles gaffer quashed rumours that he was dropping China-based players from his team as he insisted the likes of Mikel and Odion Ighalo are in his plans. Nigeria is in Group E of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier alongside South Africa, Libya and Seychelles. Source: http://www.thebreakingtimes.com/mikel-carl-ikeme-set-to-miss-bafana-match/ |

Salisu Yusuf © Shengolpixs Yusuf allays fears over ‘goalkeeping crisis’ by Sammy Wejinya Super Eagles coach, Salisu Yusuf has allayed fears over the goalkeeping situation at the senior national team. Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme has not played competitively since March 18 is not expected to play again this season as a result of injury. Nigeria’s most capped footballer, Vincent Enyeama was recently touted to make a return to the national team but the speculations have been muted as the experienced goalkeeper has also been side lined with an injury which will keep him out for the rest of the season. It leaves the Eagles with South Africa-based goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa who plays for local side, FC IfeanyiUbah as the main options in the department but Yusuf says there’s no need for Nigerians to lose sleep. “When Ikeme was not playing we had Akpeyi from South Africa,” Yusuf told supersport.com. “We also have Ezenwa from home….somebody must take responsibility. “Also, Akpeyi has played in the last three matches and we won two and drew one of those matches. “(The current situation) is a concern but I know we have good goalkeepers that will do the job for us,” he said. Yusuf also took the time to discuss Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against South Africa. The Super Eagles will face the Bafana Bafana in Uyo in June as they seek to reach the finals of Africa’s premier football showpiece for the first time in three editions. Yusuf says domestically-based talent will be given a chance while overseas-based stars will be asked to forfeit their summer holidays. “We will open camp in France on May 23 and we are inviting about four-home players for the game against South Africa. “The Europe-based players will be on break at that time but we will not want them to go on holidays. “We want everyone to be in the best conditions for that game against the Bafana Bafana,” he said. Alampasu Celebrates Eagles Recall With Penalty Save For Portuguese Side Nigerian shot stopper Dele Alampasu celebrated his recall to the Super Eagles by stopping a penalty for his Portuguese side Cesarense despite their 0-3 loss to Agueda. Alampasu dived to the left to smartly stop Agueda from scoring another goal in their 3-0 romp over Cesarense, where Alampasu was in goal for the 13th time this season. The 20 year old joined the third division side on a season long loan from top division side CD Feirense, and after a whirlwind start to his career lost his first team spot after returning late from international assignment with Nigeria. Omitted from Nigeria’s last squad for the camping and friendly game against Senegal in March, the goalkeeper who was voted the best goalkeeper at the U-17 World Cup in 2013 has been handed a recall to the team ahead of their training camp in France. There’s every tendency that he will make his senior debut for Nigeria, with doubts surrounding the availability of first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and second choice Daniel Akpeyi. **Osas Mahawi Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/05/02/video-alampasu-celebrates-eagles-recall-with-penalty-save-for-portuguese-side/ 2 Likes |

Monaco Loanee Echiejile Is The Only Recognized Left Back In Roster For Corsica Friendly Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has named only one recognized left fullback in the roster for the international friendly against Corsica on May 26. And it's Monaco loanee Elderson Echiejile that got the nod of the German tactician ahead of Zulte-Waregem youngster Kingsley Madu. On a personal note, Madu's omission is a big blow as he was going to be scouted by representatives of French Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, who have been tracking him before his move to Belgium. The other player on the radar of PSG, Trabzonspor midfielder Eddy Onazi, has been omitted from the squad list due to club commitments in Turkey. Kingsley Madu desperately wanted to join the Super Eagles in London for the international friendly versus Senegal in March, but was prevented from doing so due to a visa hitch. **Igho Kingsley Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22914 |

Ola Aina should be released to join the camp jor.. He is unlikely to be in the match day squad for the FA cup final or he will just be on the bench. I understand that he has officially written to NFF for a nationality change so that should happen quickly. It is good chance for the home based players to stake a claim . It will be nice to see the progress of Muazzam and whether the MFM duo can raise their level but i do not expect any to make the match day squad against South Africa. Onyekuru could finally be making his debut. Young stars like Ebere Eze and Osimhen also get the opportunity to train with the first team but i do not think both will be making the final squad either. I am impressed with what i have seen of Ebere Eze, looks like a real talent. Alampasu and Emmanuel daniel for Akpeyi and Ikeme. I feel Daniel is better than both Ezenwa and Akpeyi so he gets another chance to stake a claim. 1 Like |

Strength Of A Woman Puts Borussia Monchengladbach Ahead Of Everton In Race For Onyekuru English Premier League outfit Everton are currently lagging behind Borussia Monchengladbach in the race to sign free scoring Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru from Belgium side KAS Eupen. Onyekuru’s 18 goals haul in his debut season in the top flight of the league in Belgium has alerted top clubs from major leagues in Europe, with Everton meeting with the forward last week as exclusively reported by this portal. However German side Borussia Monchengladbach, who as reported by this portal are currently ahead of Everton and Southampton by using the fact that, the girlfriend of the forward is based in Germany. Manchester City: Here's how Guardiola plans to land Aubameyang this summer Manchester City have stepped up their quest to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and according to Nigerian outlet Vanguard , boss Pep Guardiola will use one of his current stars to try to tempt the Bundesliga club to part with their star player. It’s reported that 20-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho will be offered to the Germans as well as potentially £60M in an attempt to bring Aubameyang to The Etihad this summer. The Nigerian international has found a regular starting berth hard to come by since arriving at the club last summer and has only featured in five Premier League matches this term. It’s believed that City are open to a summer departure and whilst initial reports claimed that it would only be on a loan deal, Vanguard claims that Guardiola would be open to sell him to a foreign club on a permanent basis. German Nigerian Forward Sarenren Bazee To Rohr – I Will Be Fit For France Camp Super Eagles latest sensation Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee has assured coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr that he will do his best to be fit for the Eagles get together in France. The Hannover 96 forward has been out injured for over a month, but turned up at the Super Eagles camp in London although he didn’t train or play the friendly game against Senegal. Doubts are still on over his availability for the camp in France, but the forward has put a message through to coach Rohr insisting he will be fit for the France camp, according to sources close to the player. Bazee is suffering from Hoffa Syndrome and has been told by a specialist he does not need operation, but needs to rest and stay off aggravating activities. His treatment involves the use of ice therapy to reduce acute pain and inflammation. Dr Ulrich Boenisch who examined the forward who opt for Nigeria ahead of Germany however said surgery will be needed in the long run if the condition reoccurs. Hoffa syndrome is a condition due to the irritation of infrapatellar fat pad, which brings about anterior pain in the knee. It is called Hoffa disease or Fat pad impingement syndrome or simply fat pad syndrome. Man City holds talks over summer swap deal: Plan hatched to land Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang MANCHESTER CITY are reportedly ready to offer up Kelechi Iheanacho as a sweetener to land Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.By Marc Williams Man City are looking to land Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer City boss Pep Guardiola is eager to bolster his ranks in the summer following his relatively disappointing debut season in England. Nigerian outlet Vanguard claim Guardiola remains a big fan of £60m-rated Gabon star Aubameyang. And the Spanish manager is ready to offer 20-year-old striker Iheanacho as a makeweight to secure the Dortmund ace’s signature. It is said that talks have already taken place between City and Dortmund over the stunning swap deal. As well as Dortmund, Iheanacho is also reportedly attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim. Man City are willing to sell Kelechi Iheanacho this summer The youngster has struggled for game-time since Guardiola’s arrival at the Etihad last summer, starting just five Premier League games this term. While a loan exit would seem more likely this summer, Vanguard claim City are open to selling him to a foreign club. Until the Official list is out, these are still speculations and I don't know why Allnigeriasoccer don't have Henry Onyekuru on their speculative list.... abi they list him as a midfielder or what? We know Iwobi won't make it because of the FA Cup Final.... that is why his name is bolded. .......................................................................................................... Exclusive: Man City, Arsenal Wonderkids Headline List Of Ten Strikers Called Up For Friendly Against Corsica (Full List) Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been named on the Super Eagles roster for their training camp in Corsica and Paris later this month. Though Arsenal wonderkid Alex Iwobi also made the squad list, the Gunners are unlikely to release him to the Nigeria Football Federation for the simple reason that the fixture on May 26 is outside Fifa's window for international matches. On top of that, the Emirates outfit will face Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup the following day, so Iwobi linking up with his international teammates is not on the cards. Mountain of Fire strikers Sikiru Olatunbosun and Stephen Odey as well as ex-Flying Eagles star Alhassan Ibrahim have been invited after they were extensively scouted by Rohr and his lieutenants. Also included in the squad are Moses Simon, Ahmed Musa, Isaac Success, Victor Osimhen and the injured Noah Bazee. Ten Strikers/Forwards Called Up For Nigeria Friendly Vs Corsica Kelechi Iheanacho (Man City), Alex Iwobi (Arsenal)* , Sikiru Olatunbosun, Stephen Odey (MFM), Alhassan Ibrahim (Akwa United), Moses Simon (Gent), Ahmed Musa (Leicester City), Isaac Success (Watford), Victor Osimhen (Wolfsburg), Noah Bazee (Hannover). **Ifeanyi Emmanuel Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22916 1 Like |

We Will Drop Some Players Before Corsica Friendly – Rohr Confirms Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has confirmed that not all players invited for the Super Eagles get together in France will make the squad for the friendly game against Corsica Island. As many as 30 players are expected to make the trip to France with the Super Eagles, but that number will be trimmed before the team’s training session in Paris, Rohr has confirmed. Nigeria will play a test game against the tiny Island, three days after their camp opens in France, but the coach has confirmed that some players will be dropped from the team before the friendly on the 26th. "We will play against Corsica and we will have about 20 to 23 players. But not all the players will come with us to Paris on May 23 when we meet before proceeding to Ajaccio in Corsica, where the game will be played." The game will give fringe players of the team, the chance to stake a claim in the squad for the AFCON 2017 qualifiers against South Africa on the 10th of June. **Ade Emmanuel Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/05/02/we-will-drop-some-players-before-corsica-friendly-rohr-confirms/ |
