....And I am sad this morning. Just imagine, I killed one gigantic rat this morning. The issue is that this rat unarguably, has been a thorn in the flesh of many people in my street. I must confess, this rabbit-like looking rat has been a night mare to many families in my street. For over a decade or above, this "super rat' has been venturing into many kitchens. Nobody within these period has ever kept a fish in the room and have it intact in the next day. its either one of the fins of the said fish is missing, or a fleshy part of it has been "devoured" beyond recognition. Last week, it was this same mysterious rat that made my Next door neighbour, Mr Adindu cut off his newly married wife's toe while staging a "must win" battle against the rat. The other day, the rat had to enter mama Abigail's house, fed satisfactorily on her exorbitantly bought "cord stock fish", meant for this year's easter. Just last night, Papa Femi mistook His son's leg for the said rat, and left his son more or less" one footed" at the slightest attack on the mysterious rodent. The story continues and remains pitiful. As God may have it, this "chief rat" incontrovertibly could have been running back to its hideout at today's dawn, when God delivered "him" into my hands. Just with a heavy pounce on its head, "He" shook violently in defiance but had no sexy alternative than to bow to my power. Passers by, my street people, neighbours and many other onlookers gathered to sneer at the long-haunted rodent. many were congratulating me, some hugging me, some even went and brought chilled water and other forms of "refreshments" just to applaud my dogged battle and subsequent victory over this monstrous rat. Just I was happy accepting the encomiums, Sandra, my only crush in my street showed up. She has never smiled at any guy or man in our street for the past 6 years she has been living amongst us. That was "unprecedented" She smiled at me today beyond my imagination as she made her way to where I stood. I needn't be reminded that "luck was about shining on me. I stood watching her amidst "petty" chuckling as she came forward. Every part of my body was rejoicing at her coming. Guess what! The "unexpected happened. I must confess, I was already counting myself a "worthy and lucky one", of course, was ready but reticent to hear her whisper" Mcwarriboy, I am surprise to see you terminate the "rugged" existence of this rat. You are such a brave man. I admire your bravery. I think I have seen a real man to be with. But I wish to make a request to you right now and here. WOULD YOU MARRY ME??. That I kept thinking would happen until Sandra stopped in front of me. Smiled more 'convincingly" and said to my uttermost mixup of surprise and confusion " Mcwarriboy, Thank you for killing the rat. I can now sleep with both eyes well shut at nights. Of course, I can now begin to think if giving you my heart is the best thing to do." "I am leaving for Canada in two days time" she had said and maneuvered her way out of the sandy crowd. Though wasn't happy at all, but I WISH WE COULD GO BACK TO THE ERA OF "GETTING A GIRL'S/WOMAN'S HEART BY VIRTUE OF ONE'S PROWESS OR BRAVERY! (Warriboy again)
