Heerenveen central defender Kenneth Otigba remains committed to the Super Eagles though he has not been handed a call up to the national team since he pledged his international future to Nigeria ahead of Hungary.

The former Hungary U17 skipper was set to earn his first competitive cap for the European nation last year, with ex-manager Pál Dárdai inviting him for a European Championship qualifier against Greece, but he turned down the opportunity, preferring to wait for a chance to play for Nigeria. 

“If I get invited to the Super Eagles I will do my best to help the team. I am strong,fast and a good marker. I would help the team to have an organized defense,”  Otigba said toallnigeriasoccer.com.

Otigba was in action for the entirety of the game on Sunday as Heerenveen nicked an away win against Roda, thanks to Branco van den Boomen’s injury time winner.

“I had confidence in the team because we played better and we deserved the three points,  it came little too late. 

“And I felt that our free kicks and corners were quite dangerous,and at the end van den Boomen showed his qualities scoring from a free kick,“ Kenneth Otigba concluded.

Born in Kaduna 23 years ago, Kenneth Otigba has represented Hungary from Under 15 to Under 21 level.
