Eckankar is not a church nor a Christian group. They don't believe in Christ nor do they use the Bible as a working tool. They follow the teachings of Mahanta.

So, Who is the Mahanta?

The Mahanta is the inner, or spiritual, form of the Living ECK Master. It is the highest state of God Consciousness known to man. The Mahanta gives inner guidance through dreams, Soul Travel, and the Spiritual Exercises of ECK.

The Mahanta, the Living ECK Master's role is to serve as the Wayshower and spiritual guide. He teaches Souls who are ready and guides them on the path home to God. He is given deep respect but is not worshipped.

Where does Jesus Christ fit into the ECK teachings?

Jesus is viewed as a messenger of God who serves as the spiritual guide for Christians, as spiritual teachers and saints have done for other groups throughout time. Paul Twitchell's book Stranger By the River includes passages that speak with beauty and inspiration about the message of love that Jesus brought.

How do you explain the teachings of love which Christ came here to teach? How does it fit into today Churches preaching prosperity and miracles? Read the tweets above and understand it's that of a Church, a better Church if you like.

Say what you know. Eckankar is neither a cult nor a brotherhood. It is a religion on its own.

Without a strong love for God and life, no one can practice Soul Travel. It's like the experience Christ gave Peter, James and John during the transfiguration Matt, 17: 1-9 Mark 9: 2-8 Luke 9: 27-36. And the key is Love and Love alone which isn't the prerogative of any religion.

The teachings of ECK(Holy Spirit) has nothing to do with the lower practices mentioned below.
