Nigeria, Our homeland, Origin and Pride we hail Thee" (1960-1978). Our former national anthem. How many can still sing this?
Nigeria, we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour'd,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

My dear that pledge is no more relevant as the Nigeria itself is more divided in practice and action and remain united only in map and paper.

It is better we tell ourselves the truth.

A country with over 250 ethnic groups and over 50 languages like Nigeria is not meant to be together. Amalgamation was forced on us and its our problem.
