When you say Arẹ́gbẹ́ṣọlá is building schools, the image that comes up in the minds of many outside the of Osun is the mushroom schools in their backyard.

Be kindly informed that the schools OSUN is currently building is not the everyday secondary school. What OSUN called secondary school is what many states call universities. OSUN elementary schools competes well with universities of some states.

Abeg make you tell your neighbour say "shoes get size and quality o“ !!!

The massive investment in education by Aregbe is born out of the need to redeem the abysmal status of OSUN education. Arẹ́gbẹ́ṣọlá inherited an Ọsun with 3% WAEC pass ratio. It has improved to 18% in the latest WAEC result. It's clear that there is still a long way to go in getting OSUN to the educational height envisaged by the government.

There is no doubt that things are though in Nigeria today, but the only way to go is forward, OSUN is marching forward.

Yes sir. The record is there for who cares. In 2010 about 6,000 Plus passée with 5 credits, in 2011 it was doubled by 11,000 plus, and 2013, but short fall in 2015 due to some circumstances that we all know. If truly we want to say the truth, Governor Rauf Aregbesola deserved commendations.

On my way to kwara last weekend, I pass through Osun state and realised that the abandoned projects in the state has kicked off again.

I was confused just because of the allocation Osun state received in March was so poor.

Gbongan fly over, Osogbo-Ikirun road has commenced back. Kudos to Ogbeni

Hmmmm govt continue to use resources meant for all to serve the few privileged ones. Why not use the billions in renovating thousands of schools first before building tens of them to serve as models.
That's what Akpabio said when asked y he wasn't following the Ameachis style.
Ensure you spread the necessary amenities around and within reach of all before setting up the so called signature projects. That way children women and men left out is at the barest minimum.
Akpabio said that first u build health centres in communities and general hospitals in Local governments where it doesn't exist before specialist hospital. Same he did for schools. At a he attempted making all akwa ibom communities connected to the national grid.
I think that's how govt with limited resources should be about, meeting the needs of the general public than privileged few....I think it is insensitivity of the highest order to hv govt spends public funds to serve hundreds of people when same could've help give millions more some fresh breath.

Aregbesola Exposes Osun To An Unprecedented Debt Regime

Former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Sunday Ojo-Williams, has accused the state governor; Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola of exposing the state to an unprecedented debt regime. Ojo-Williams said the governor, through his indiscriminate recruitment exercise within his first year in office tripled the state’s monthly salary budget. The PDP chieftain who heads the party’s legal team said the state needs a governor who understands that economics is an informed application of scarce resources to meet competing societal needs. According to him,Aregbesola behaved as if he had unlimited resources to meet all expenditures. He accused the governor of spending billions on the elections in Ondo, Ekiti and Imo states. READ ALSO: Stop Stigmatizing Aregbesola Osun Group Warns He alleged that the recruitment exercise conducted by the governor within his first year ballooned the state’s monthly salary budget threefold, drew N500 million unaudited security vote and consequently exposed the state to an unprecedented debt regime, which he is now servicing with monthly allocation that is robbing workers of their pay. “He took loans on projects that are grandiose and without direct impact on the lives of the people – federal roads and flyovers that hardly got off the drawing board, airports construction that never got off the ground. He destroyed over 2,000 newly completed primary school blocks worth several billions of naira built by Oyinlola’s government. “His so-called mega schools remain uncompleted after four years and over N20billion. There are outright cases of strange expenditures like the Opon Imo and that of the Ede Waterworks, the mega schools which both UBEC and the federal government now claim to have funded. Only an accomplice would exonerate such a governor,” he said. He debunked the statement credited to Chief Bisi Akande that Aregbesola met a loan burden that is making him not to perform. “That is a wicked excuse from a leader who would not mind lying to hoodwink people outside the state. The truth of the matter is that the administration of Oyinlola took a credit line of N18.3billion to part-finance the 2010 budget. The bulk of that loan, about 60 percent, was to go into further development of UNIOSUN, technical education for school leavers and unemployed graduates and nine on-going road projects across the state. “Less than 20 percent was earmarked for the development of sporting facilities across the state and this included the Osogbo Township Stadium, which is almost completed. But Oyinlola drew only N10 billion of that facility and paid back N2.4 billion before leaving in November 2010. That means he left a liability balance of N7.6 billion from that credit facility. ”Aregbesola came and went to another bank to take a loan of N25 billion, claiming he used it to refinance N7.6 billion. Does that make sense to any reasonable person who is not mischievous? And, again, will Akande claim not knowing that his boy has, in just four years, plunged the state into a debt of over N400 billion?” He argued against Chief Akande’s claim that Aregbesola is the only governor in Nigeria who completely runs the state government and the local governments at the same time “Every month, Aregbesola asks the 30 local governments to submit their salary vouchers to the state government, he then pays everyone from local government chairman to messengers. He controls both state funds and local government funds completely. Can you now see how enormous the problem is? History will definitely judge them,” he averred.

Osun Gov. Aregbesola Explains Why He Can’t Pay State Workers’ Salaries

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun has once again blamed the failure of his administration to pay workers salaries as at when due on the drop in allocations to the state from the Federation Account.

Aregbesola said this Friday night during a chat with newsmen on the sidelines of an award to him for service to humanity by Voice of African Women for Human Dignity, an NGO.

The award was presented to Aregbesola at Asokoro, Abuja.

The governor said that he was pained by his government’s inability to pay salaries regularly.

“I have found it hard to pay the wage bills owing to the declining federal allocation to the state. Federal allocation to the state has reduced by 40 per cent since 2013, thereby making it difficult for my government to meet its responsibilities,” he said.

Aregbesola said the situation became so bad at a point that he resorted to the state’s reserves, which he said also ran out on the payment of salaries.

He said administration had already accumulated a debt of N12 billion in its bid to ensure that salaries were paid regularly, adding that his government was committed to the people’s welfare.

Aregbesola commended the group for the award and promised that he would inspire him to do more for the public.

“I got into politics so that I can render quality services to the suffering people of my state because majority of the people are hungry and angry,’’ he said.

At the presentation of the award by Hajia Amina Idris, the president of group, said the award was to appreciate the governor for his service to humanity.

“This award of excellence is in recognition of your immense contribution to humanity”, she said.
Idris said Aregbesola had been exceptionally helpful in the area of improving child education and promotion of human dignity through lofty programmes.

Prevail on Aregbesola not to sack 1,083 health workers – Union begs Buhari

The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) on Saturday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State to rescind his plans to dismiss 1,083 workers of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Osogbo.
Mr Afolabi Abiodun, the Chairman of JOHESU in Osun, made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo.

He alleged that the plans to sack the workers had reached an advanced stage, while the yet-to-be-delivered termination letters of the workers had already been written by the hospital’s management board, on the order of the governor.

Abiodun stressed that at this juncture, only Buhari’s intervention could save the situation and prevent the planned workers’ sack.

He said that the governor had already taken a position on the audit report carried out on the hospital, which recommended that 1,083 workers of the 2,047 workforce of the hospital should be laid off.

He said that the governor jettisoned all other recommendations of the audit report but decided to stick to the recommendation on downsising the workforce.

Abiodun said that in reaction to the government’s plans, a peaceful protest was staged within the hospital premises on Wednesday.

He warned that if the workers were eventually served with the termination letters, all the workers would go on strike.

Meanwhile, the state government has debunked the claims regarding the purported plans to sack bona fide workers of LAUTECH.

The Director, Bureau of Communications and Strategy to the government, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, told NAN that only workers who were recruited into the hospital without the mandatory government’s approval would be affected by the exercise.

He stressed that the state government was not interested in the sack of any of its worker.

“Government is not interested in the sack of any of its employee but rather its interest has always been how to get more people employed in the state via its job creation policy.

“But

having said that, if there are any noticeable irregularities in the recruitment exercise of any government agencies, that does not mean such thing will be overlooked,’’ he said.

Okanlawon said that the report of a forensic examination carried out in LAUTECH revealed that there had been irregular recruitment in the hospital since 2012.

“It is just unfortunate for anyone to lose his job but all the same, government cannot overlook any perceptible irregularity in the process of recruitment,’’ he added.

He went ahead and build structures wt plenty classrooms where as the number of student in the schl is nt up to 500. What will u do to the empty classes? He went and bought Ipad for SS 3 students, a project worth 80million naira (accorsding to him) contract handled by kabiru (his son) and today there is no single ipad (opon imo) again. What of the schl uniform? All schools in osun are usin a single uniform and since he gave them that first one free, buyin the uniforms are hard and student resulted into wearing rags/tattered wears to school.
