6 injured, as Uniport students clash with police over school fee increase

About six students have so far been injured as University of Port Harcourt students clashed with police officers who came to disperse the protesters.

WDNews gathered that the students were protesting against the school fee hike by the management of the university, which recently increased the fees from N28, 000 to N45, 000.

A student of the department of Economics in the university, who spoke to WDNews on phone on the condition of anonymity, explained that the protesting students believed that as a Federal University, its fees should not be suddenly hiked up to N45, 000, describing it as “preposterous and insensitive.”
