Islam has provisions for respecting leaders, it's therefore an abomination to do otherwise or take arms against constituted authority. Islam has also through prophet Mohammad (SAW) instructed Muslims to seek for knowledge even if they are going to get it in Chin the present day China, as long as such knowledge could be beneficial to one self and humanity generally.
There is no restrictions to which type of knowledge you seek, provided that, it would not take you away from Islam.
