When I grow old

Upon a deserted isle shall I trudge
Haunted by the souls of sailors and pirates 
Long gone and forgotten
The echoes of their shrill cries
Ricochets off the steely wind‎s
Sending unending chill
Down my feeble spine

But this is where I'd rather be
Away from man;
His senseless wars and illusion of love
Oh love,thy chaste violated by savages
Left to rot upon the plains of venice
Banished to memories distant

Wilted flowers and fallen children
Littered upon the streets of Damascus
Fallen mosques and rising tanks
Man and arms united in symphonic melody
Together they play the notes of war
Oh choristers of death!

In my basement,I weep
On windy nights near the fireplace
I weep for humanity
Its clairvoyance or lack of
Its ignorance shimmering like burnished bronze
Oh the pettiness of man!
