seanwilliam:No, not that I was lucky to b dere. It was a normal thing. B4 d list came out, I went to unilag website and I saw their admission help desk numbers- they were four I called all four and askd them if I would b on d list with d fact that I didn't meet d merit cutoff but met my state cutoff. They assured me I will b on d list" So I dnt think it was just luck Well to u oda question, if he beats oda state cuttoff except his, he should b on merit list Out of 34 candidates that were on the list, I was #26 Note: ekiti(my state) had d lowest cutoff,59.75 and dat was my exact score so definitely there were odaz(.8.) wu were lower than I was and didn't meet any cutoff but still made d merit list. They were close to d cutoff I guess... 2 points away or so 1 Like |

no ish with the awaiting result anyway for ur target, last year cut off for philosophy was 53.64 and for oyo, it was 48.88 With 212, u av an aggregate of 26.5 Wouldn't advice you to target 48 as diz yrs cutoff, so let's take it as 55 So in pume, u will need to score 22/40 I've done d maths already.... U suld knw hw to do it ursef by now?? |

seanwilliam:getting admitted and being on d list are two different things.. Two things could av happend here 1. He was on d list but eliminated during screening, Mayb due to his age or jamb combo or waec combo and other things like dat 2. Last year, a lot of people who scored as high as that weren't on d list . Majorly those that did dere exams @ fss... But @ d later end of it, they were given admission, there was merit omission list And did your friend even try to follow up diz admission by visiting d admiss ion unit |

Sorry, i didn't pass through anything before i got admitted into the university. Here in America, we don't even need a high school diploma (Waec) to gain admission into the university. And we don't need exams (Neco or aptitude test) before you gain admission, the only exam you will take is placement test, you can't fail it, even if your score is 0/10, you will still be admitted. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Hmmm.... Well, my story began from primary school days, when I was a young boy, when that woman who calls herself my mother and the man who calls himself my father, decided to make me do exercises in Maths and English during the holidays. So...while my mates were playing football and watching VHS videos (this was back in the days before internet, PlayStation, and DSTV)...I was struggling with repeated Maths and English exercises. In other words...instead of resting...I was still going to school. It got worse when I turned ten years old. My mother decided that we should read 19th century English classics (like Silas Marner, Oliver Twist, et al) and give her verbal reports of what we read. Then watching TV....it had to be educational documentaries.Cartoons were for special occasions. Oh yes, and did I mention that when it was exam time, we had to work so hard that even as a seven year old...I was still studying at 9pm for an exam paper(Groan). That is how it went until secondary school...when I had to start reading 10 months to the SSCE and JAMB. Not to mention the three extra lessons (Two in one subject) I was going to....and the fact that I had to read late into the night. Did I pass my SSCE at first attempt. Yes....and I even got my first choice. Anyway...the point of this long story is not to boast about my parents (They are good folk really, very good people)...but to comment on the fact that preparing for wassce starts when you are in primary school. You see....my parents made me do these things to pass 1.Repeated English and Maths exercises....which is important for the exam...as no tertiary institution would accept you without English or Maths...as I soon found out. (Even with connections...the guy doing admission runs for you will always check if you have those two subjects. If not...e go hard.) 2.Reading old English classics....not only helped me like reading, but giving those verbal reports helped me with summarization better. (I was further helped in my SS1 by a very good English teacher we had who taught us summaries well!).Vital skills for studying and writing exams. (If you do not like reading....sorry...you cannot pass any exam. ). 3.And spending hours doing academic work during my holidays taught me how to work even when it is not ''suitable'' as well as discipline.(Vital skills for the workplace and acada). So...I got into University...which was not a walk in the park for me (there were times when I felt like just giving up)...but still... Getting into school is hardwork, and building the right kind of skills in certain ''strategic'' subjects 16 Likes 2 Shares |

It was a learning experience for me. Got my waec at my first attempt but took me 8 years to finally gain admission. Was always doing well in jamb (scored 255, 262 & my least, 237 is what finally gave me admission, and that is because I did pre-degree). I'd traveled to the North , South and round West just cos of it. Wasn't funny at that time. Thank God it's all history now as I graduated as one of d best in my class. I can boldly say that experience helped to shape me and make me who I am today. I strongly advise admission seekers to explore remedials, pre-degree and the likes cos admission through jamb is mostly a case of man know man first, before merit but these avenues guarantee admission if you just pass jamb. 11 Likes 1 Share |

What did I pass through? Hmmmmm.... I sat jamb in 2013 and I always prayed it should be my one and only jamb and I chose Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) and university of Ibadan, got 221 in jamb and wrote both schools post Utme, scored above cut off in UI but didn't do well in FUTA... With this one would imagine UI should admit me but no I was not admitted after I had waited for them to release all their admission lists, FUTA also released their first batch admission list after which they released change of course list luckily for me my name was there but didn't apply for change of course because I wanted to go to UI but when UI didn't work out the deadline for change of course in FUTA had closed and they have released the names of those admitted through change of course and other lists too... So I lost hope in getting admitted that year, na so I go obtain another jamb for 2014 but God had other plans for me, the day I registered for another jamb was the day my name came out with final list of admitted students in FUTA.. Wow it was like a dream I couldn't believe it but it was real and my name came out a week to our resumption...Thank God I made it from one attempt 4 Likes |

I didn't suffer anything. I wrote WAEC once and JAMB once. Had three different admissions, Geophysics, Physics and Astronomy, and Electrical Engineering. I finally choose Engineering. Children of nowadays don't read books again. 1 Like |
