lol, why go through all these stress of certifying, sending via Courier, praying to God for admission Letter, opening blocked account, saving up and paying d 8040+50€, jacking like hell for visa interview, to come back with Bsc/Msc degree and be like a regular unijos student, to a country of uncertainty also, if Germany and current Nigeria are both uncertainties, and you have experienced both, pls which would you want to stick with? or advise your family. if you believe nothing is in naija for you anymore and see a glimpse of more hope in Germo and it would take u pulling some measures to create Avenue for the achievement of that dream, go ahead, but all i'ld say is, Be Wise, because you can't plant a cooked carrot. enough with all dis doles of discouragement biko, i jst dey wait for new rate sef, if na to sell my clothes, i go selll #Team Deutschland 2016 5 Likes |

[quote author=zeusaqua post=46727653]I m surprised NEVILBOT can make this statement.. My question is since u left for Gem, how come u have not returned to Nigeria ur dream country. In de first place while did u travel to do ur MSC in Gem?. U just one person I see dat can't give someone a help in NL on Gem move rader talking negative n discouraging people. quote author=nevilbot post=46723901] My guy, u dont know me and u are writing a statement as fact abt me as if uve met me before. Those who have asked for me help from here have gotten it in abundance so wat u don't know don't say. My stand on his issue was his decision to start selling properties to finance the German trip. No matter how u look at it, I am never in support of anyone selling properties on a hope that u will start earning as soon as u arrive and as much as u want it. Those who av crossed my path from here know me better than the assumption u presented here as fact even wen u and I av not had a single interaction. Conclusively, coming to Germany is anyone's personal decision, so my view might not sound sensible to u but u are also not privy to my exposures. Take the risk, sell anything sellable. In the long run its still u and your decision. Bis bald. 1 Like |

On the issue o renewal, A friend told me that he went with a one year insurance and they issued a one year residence and he asked the Ausländerbehörder that most students have two years residence then they said he brought a one year insurance and he gets one year residence. I have seen someone who returned to Naija because he could neither fund his account nor get VE, this one no be them say. One thing i know for sure is that different people different stories what works for A might not work for B. Last year I applied to a school thru uni-assist and they sent me a mail that my application is incomplete, i emailed the school and they requested my application from uni-assist at the end a conditional admission was given but €8k no show. In as much as I appreciate what everybody contributes i can say everyone is right depending on their own situation and experience. Nobody is discouraging anybody, go and experience it yourself. #WinterMannschaft2016 1 Like |

NRW, the best German State for students! Low cost of living, a lot of unskilled jobs, friendly people. These are the things any prospective student should put into consideration before choosing a school. You cannot compare the cost of living in Duisburg, Essen, Dortmund, Düsseldorf etc. with any city in Bavaria. My little advice! 6 Likes |

I most say am a little bit surprised that even people in Germany are trying to discourage people from taking short term risk.... nothing good comes easy. I will prefer working in a country where most of my salaries go to taxes that i actively benefit from and i know i have a very bright career that I can buzz into any developed country again and make it. Nothing good comes easy. What should guys that spend millions on school in USA Canada even UK that will send u away after education say. Go to USA student page here on NL and see how people working for big companies resign just to have to study in America and have a better life. What happened to finishing masters and working to gain experience and buzz to Canada via PR parole. What happened to enrolling in the States for a fully funded PhD position. It's all about risk sirs and mas. Its all about what you plan for yourself and what you believe passionately in. You are a product of what you think. Why will i give up having a world class education at relatively cheap rate and opportunity to explore the world and meet great minds just because. As much as we will love to hear the - ve and +ve give us vital information that has kept you going despite all odd. At the end it all boils down to the level of information that is available to one. 5 Likes |

Neyoalao: who non go non know! Some risk are not worth it. The risk of selling a house in nija to pursue germo dream is not worth it at all. There are a lots of limitations in here that i wouldn't want to display online. It's easier to build a career in an english speaking country. it's not all about studying in Germany, its about integrating into the german system and believe me that would take another 5 years and above that is if you are very lucky. What you study also matters alot. if you are going to germany to study social sciences like banking, accounting, economics, finance and you wish to work with that in germany after your studies h.... OYO for you! May be 2/1000 of African population. If you think the system here will absorb you into their financial sector, insurance, economics after studies hmmm it means you are over lucky. You cannot compare germany with UK, Canada, USA in terms of life after school. The limitations in Germany are far more than what you think. I did BSc and Masters and i am very sure of what i am saying to a very large extent. If you are into engineering, sciences then there is hope for you. Mind you, I am not discouraging any one. But my point is plan before you take any move. Your planning should start from the city to study, what to study, life after studies. WHO NON GO NON KNOW! 6 Likes |

nevilbolt and pompody have spoken well. I think both of em r tryna give us what is obtainable over there. personally, I believe our "why" should be the motivating force. why? why would I want to leave my 90k/300k paying job for germo? why would I want to sell my house for a dream? why would I want to sell my danfo that's earning me sth aidY? why would I want to switch my comfort zone in Nigeria where I know a lot ta people aidy for germo where I know nobody except God? it's a personal and thought provoking question which u have to be honest with yourself. once you know your why is worth all your landed properties even with any inheritance(in case u have one) or borrowed money ,then why not? I am a dreamer. I love dreams and I aggressively pursue them streetly (in olamides voice). if your dream is to pursue an MSc probly following that up with a PhD, why start thinking about "if things nor work nko or if I nor see job". shuu! nawa you oooh. it's your dream man. chase it. I heard u need the language to increase your chances of getting a Job after studies, man what r u doing now? reading this epistle? start now(with a street mindset). if u r IT related, be proficient in at least a programming language. Get yourself pimped soteh u go become hard to refuse for any potential employer. From my little experience, it's about what u can do not what u have studied in school. forget naija graduate mentality, get acquainted with the reality. love-vendor yourself with the necessary skill and wait on God to do the best. On the renewal issh, I think the ancestors should tell us how they go about theirs. you guys keep saying students job o, e no easy,e nor shegba, pepese kan, e no shey kinikankinikan (mean no disrespect Biko, edakun) and u r still there u never come back house. tell us how u do am. I know of scholarship for outstanding students after the first year e.g. Heidelberg Msc scientific computing dey give 800yuros (nor mind the spelling ) for top 25% students. who tell us say we nor fit tip the class? additionally, u can apply for other available scholarship. haba!shey we nor fit find sponsors for the second year ni sef? nawa oo. I believe there must be a way out aside depending on people home for second year funding(well nah the ancestors sabi pass). my point is, let your reason for going germo be strong so that when the challenges come, you will be strong and conquer. 3 Likes |

Exactly i get the point of integrating that's why i said with the opportunity of studying in Germany one can get to buzz out to English speaking country on different platforms. It takes a whole lot of determination to want to stay put in a country where Language is a huge barrier and am not in support of selling houses to come down to Germany. Like someone rightly said. He can do what he did to build a house to get money to pursue the german dream. Different plan for different peeps tho. For me oh na to come chop free education and have good travel experience and head on to the next ladder 3 Likes |

lobito007: I live in Germany.. 1. that your 2,500 euro take home have you removed your 2 bed room flat accommodation of 600 euro monthly 2. have you removed 80 euro monthly for AOK insurance 3. have you removed 85 euro monthly for electricity and also remove water bill? 4. have you added some years to integrate here to work in German company after graduation cos language is key here? 5. Have you removed 135 car insurance monthly or 150 train ticket to work monthly depending on where you live this calculation is based on earning 2500 which is never posible all u can eran after tax is 1600 and they are all gobe on bills bills bilss. 600 or 700 euro monthly on houseing at 400 naira per euro is 280k naira per month just for house rent .... does this not pay rent in naija for a year in come cities like Benin? so when you come here you go understand.. also the graduating rate here is very low... how many nairaland guys u don see came back here to thank God they have graduated? If you fail any exam here 3 times then you are kicked out and ex-matriculated.. and their grading system high cos u need 50 to have ordinary pass grade as 4.0 rather than naija where 40 is pass and 50 which is ordinary pass here is credit in naija, uk and usa and Canada. Their grading system here is killing. German machines... 7 Likes |
