What the doctor did was called incision and drainage and possibly marsupialization. All he needed was to get consent from the patient which I kn he did. The point at which he needed a chaperone was when he was doing a vaginal examination. That chaperone wouldn't be another male. Unless requested by the patient. Recently I wanted to do breast examination for a patient who complained of breast lump. I picked up the intercom to call a nurse to come chaperone the examination. The young female patient refused and insisted I must do the examination alone. At that point, I declined to do at all even with a chaperone.
