A native of Sawla in the Northern Region shot himself dead at Bomaa on Wednesday after relatives of his 19-year-old fiancée asked him to perform the necessary marital rites, including the payment of her bride price.


According to a report by graphic.com.gh, Simon had eloped with Felicia Tetrah, and settled with her at Bomaa in the Tano North District of the Brong Ahafo Region, but the Tetrah family traced the two to the town and ordered Sawla to either perform the customary rites leading to marriage or release their daughter to them.



Not satisfied with the turn of events, Simon is reported to have entered his room, and with the emissary from Sawla waiting outside, shot himself using a single-barreled shot gun.

He was found dead in a pool of blood on his bed, the report said.
