Adolescent or teenage sexual relations has been on the rise. Nigerian teenagers are exempted from this. As we seem more connected through social media and have more freedom to move about.

Having sex is not a bad thing, at all, but it has been reserved for a particular union, (marriage) and the state of freedom of sexuality will thereby lead to an increase in the transmission of sexual diseases and other related cases (unwanted pregnancies, social, psychological and mental problems)

Here are some facts about Adolescent sexual behaviour in the recent years. Do you agree with them?

1. Dating plays a part in adolescents’ healthy development. But when teens are dating exclusively (going steady), they are more likely to have sex earlier.

2. The proportion of adolescents who have never had sex has declined since the early 1990s.(Meaning more adolescents will be engaged in the act in more years to come)

3. Adolescents who have sex early are less likely to use contraception, putting them at greater risk of pregnancy and STDs.

4. Many adolescents are engaging in sexual behaviors other than vaginal intercourse. Nearly half have had MouthAction and just over one in 10 have had anal sex..............................
