For any who have been following the news on tertiary institutions, it is no longer news that the University Of Lagos closed its gates and sent all its students home two weeks ago. This decision came after several days of protests against the terrible living conditions the students have been subjected to. The students, in their right, staged said protest against the management of the institution in order to get a sympathetic response from the authorities. However, as shown in the Dean of student affairs (DSA's) interview with channels Tv , the school authorities could not be less concerned about the students they are tasked with shepherding. This level of wickedness and indifference can only happen in a country where it is allowed to. To add insult to injury, the school authorities after "extensive consultation" have decided to disband the ULSU(University of Lagos students union)so as to take away the voice of the students, have forced all students to sign an indemnity form and re-absorption oath which basically states that all students submit to the total control of the school authorities and so many other absurd orders(yes, orders!) and all these documents along with the student dockets are to be printed, signed and submitted before 2 may 2016. How on earth the authorities expect over 20,000 students to do all these in one week is an absurdity that knows no bounds. Shown in the images below are the rules which finally unmasks the farcical UNILAG for what is actually is; a group of oligarchical bullies who are only interested in enriching themselves, lining their pockets and denouncing students for their own failures afterwards. These are the people who who trusted with the leaders of tomorrow, these are the people you entrusted with the future, these are the people you entrusted with your children. Say no to oligarchy and dictatorship, say no to bullying, say yes to RestoreUlsu.

just really sad that the school believes we're powerless without ulsu.

signing those documents simply means we're signing our rights and freedom over..

This brings back bad memory of the clamp down on Jan 19th, 2015, during Ibidapo Obe's era. Students took to the road within the school to protest the death of the speaker of the parliament, some miscreants seized the opportunity to unleash mayhem, by torching the residence of the VC and the DSA. They sent in more than 500 armed police men to forcefully evict students out from the hostels. The police shot multiple tear gas canisters at students in new hall. Some students almost went blind. I remember how I brought out my stove, dipped my hand inside, and started rubbing kerosene on the faces of students who ran up to my floor in one of the hostels in new hall. I saw a girl who had sight defect go temporary blind. She couldn't see anything. Some students were stampeded.

Later on, we were asked to download an undertaking form, sign and submit. We were all fined N10,000 for damages. Even those who were not in school were made to pay for what they knew nothing about. Eventually, they scrapped all levels of students 'unionism'.

11yrs after, the same right violation is happening again.
