roughdiamond:what is thier (girls n boys) mentality towards nigerians, how easy is it to make money, what about the rent, like a single room etc |
Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by roughdiamond(m): 6:46pm On Sep 03, 2017 |
skylane:Their girls too like Nigerian guys. I have not really observed much about their mentality towards Nigerians but from my little experience, they are very nice and friendly. I met a very charming Ivorian girl at The Young Shall grow park. Didn't know how to approach her ( because of how our girls in Nigeria treat guys) but fortunately, her seat was beside mine. She greeted immediately she entered and our conversation started till we got to Abidjan. Though language barrier was a great problem but Google translator helped. I collected her number but yet to call her. I haven't known how to make money here as I am still trying to settle and break the language barrier but there are great businesses almost everywhere. House rent is very costly from my little experience. I was told 50k cefa at Marcory and required to pay for 4months. A local hotel I slept in charged 12k cefas. 3 Likes |

Ugosample:I moved to Gonzaque today. A Nigerian guy I met in the bus and his pastor are trying to secure a place for me. I was able to get a hotel there too for 7k cefa. And by his grace, I may park into my own apartment tomorrow. 1 Like |

skylane:Yeah, I really wish to contact her but the stories I have been hearing and my personal observations about their girls is scaring me. I wouldn't want to loose focus (have many things to achieve first. Not a Saint oooooh!) But honestly, these people live a weird life. I don't advise any man to raise a family here. I went out yesterday to buy Banana, unfortunately the seller couldn't understand me so she called a girl to interpret for her. At the course of the interpretation, I found out that the girl is a Nigerian. Do you know what she does? Prostitution. A teenage girl of about 16-18 years. Ivorians generally seem to be nice and friendly. Please feel free to ask me your questions here. It was by others' questions that I learnt what took me to this country. Feel free to ask, I don't think anything should be hidden as they even show porns on their cable TV here. Lol 3 Likes |

Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by roughdiamond(m): 3:05pm On Sep 04, 2017 |
skylane:I have my reservations on why I haven't contacted her. She works at Cocody and lives really big but women are last in my list here. I have seen and heard much about them here. I came with a plan and haven't even gotten an apartment. One needs to settle first. My first objective was for her to help me find accommodation but she pays 80k cefas where she lives which is against my budget. My mission is to stay here but things are damn expensive here. I mean very expensive 1 Like |

Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by roughdiamond(m): 6:02pm On Sep 04, 2017 |
skylane:"Everything I write here is my personal experience" The only cheap things I have seen here are ; women and food. Water is costly. The bottle water I buy in Nigeria 100-150 is 500cefa here. One egg is 100cefa. A man I met here as I type tells me that opportunities are everywhere here but I am yet to find them. He is a Nigerian too. Though, I am trying to be very careful with Nigerians here. Two boys (G Boys) had earlier met me in my previous hotel advertising their business. That contributed to my relocation as the last thing I will do is crime. Maybe when I get an apartment, I will blend in 3 Likes |

roughdiamond:Roughdiamond, how much did you pay from Nigeria to the place, and what are the documents you carried along?Secondly, how do you view life there compared to Nigeria in terms of living standard, economy, weather, currency, infrastructures(houses)businesses and lastly their women compared to naija women, thanks. |
Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by roughdiamond(m): 9:57pm On Sep 05, 2017 |
cutieme:"whatever I write here is a personal experience" I paid 27k at the young shall grow;had my passport only and paid 9k cefas for Yellow fever at Ghana border. The living standard here is OK but apartment. You can't imagine the houses where people live here. The only advantage is that it has light, water and very organized. Their Economy is OK. I have observed no difference in weather here. Currency is cefa. They make use of coins here. There was light everywhere I had visited, Sontra buses at 200 cefas to anywhere. There are other buses and taxi too which is costly. Houses are very expensive here. Very expensive and the least I have seen, you must pay from 6 months up. Two months rent, 4 months caution. If you are thinking of coming, budget from 50k/month for a studio. Though, you may get a cheaper one. Comparing their women to Naija is like comparing Abuja and Aba. Their women are amazing and too cheap but I must advise ; if you have a long term plan, delete their women from your mind. Many Nigerians here married them. They are very nice, but too sexually immoral. They show porn on cable TV here, so just imagine the effects. 4 Likes |

My advice to whoever wants to come here. Please prepare very well. Both financially and mentally. Things are really expensive, especially house and data. Data and calls are free in Nigeria compared to my experience here. If you really have much, think of investing in internet service providing. Many things about this country were overhyped. Nigeria is in a million times better than this country but they are very organized and everything is working. God really blessed us but punished us with bad leaders. Only Dangote can buy this country but come and see how everything is working. I nearly cried. For those who may still have questions, drop them but I may go on break from now as I don't have much to spend on data again. Thanks 4 Likes |

I always made reference to the infos here when I was searching for a house and at a point, the people helping me got annoyed and threatened to leave me. Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by Ugosample(m): 3:36am On Sep 07, 2017 |
corkpikin: Ivory Coast is actually cheaper than Ghana... Even the Ghanaians will tell you What made it look like things were expensive was because back then, naira lost a lot of value, even till now, so if you are coming from Nigeria, you will pay double of what you have paid say 4 years ago. Shame 1 Like |
Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by Ugosample(m): 3:40am On Sep 07, 2017 |
roughdiamond: Only if 1000 cfa was 330 like in the past, you will not be saying this. Because the Ghana currency is stronger than both Naira and cfa; they tend to like it there. |

I finally parked into a single room without toilet and bathroom at 25k cefas per month. 2 months advance, 5 months caution and 1 month agent fee. Adjame? @Chimaxan, thanks for your concern. Getting someone to share with me now will be very difficult besides, I haven't shared a room before even with my brothers at home. Sharing a flat (2bed room) will be better. I have parked in now, just trying to settle and learn the language. Getting out of my dumb mood soon. Lol 2 Likes |

roughdiamond:one thing you failed to mention is you will be earning as much as your expenditures. yes, housing is expensive and other stuffs... but have you asked yourself how much you will be making if you start-up a business? my brother I don't believe that things could be more expensive than what people are earning their individually... impossible! I spent 2 weeks in Abidjan from late June till 11th July this year and I must tell you that Abidjan is 100% better than Nigeria in everything despite our claim to be the African Giant. by God's grace I'm relocating there next month to start life! Though things are more expensive there than In Nigeria, but you see the benefits of whatever you're paying for. unlike here you pay electricity bills and no light and other problems with bad road, poor mentality, sycophants and educated illiterates. for your information from where I'm typing now from somewhere in Nigeria we have not seen light since today but the bills are already there for the month of September which have not even been consumed. if you're my type that is really in need of a better environment with the good things of life you will like Abidjan. I rather live happily in a foreign land with a peace of mind than making millions in Nigeria but lacking the good things of life on a daily basis. My experience and my personal opinion too. 10 Likes |

As for me, I don't really believe that life is all about making money. I believe is all about happiness. that's why people from a more organized nations has a better average life expectancy than we from this part of the earth called Nigeria. the average life expectancy of a Canadian is 85yrs, while the average life expectancy of a Nigerian is 45yrs. Do you know why? because they're more happier and have more of a better living environment than we. My greener pasture is my health and happiness... that's why I'm leaving this country to Abidjan. 12 Likes 1 Share |
