We all know that Religion is one of the biggest factor in Nigeria when it comes to Politics,You can never divorce the religious sentiment from a typical Nigerian and African at large. North/South Pattern: It is a pattern familiar to pre-election periods in Nigeria . Politicians from one or other part of the country start clamouring for their turn at the top. The North always nominate a Muslim candidate and opposite for the South. Breakdown If a Muslim from the North is the President, automatically his Vp must be a Christain from the South(SS,SW or SE) Eg Buhari/Osibanjo. Time Up, Its time for the South to rule. Since a Muslim just left the post,a christain is the next in line to rule. The leading Party will surely choose a muslim as his Vp from the North. Eg..Obasanjo/Atiku. The only hope the yoruba muslim have is Sariki from the North. He's Corrupt,Who will Nominate/vote for him 2 Likes |

We have started again o. Is this trash not enough? SW does not really give a damn about religion. It is that ineffectual buffon that tried to reap from the religious divide in this country that brought religious politics to our consciousness. If you don't believe me, can you name 5 SW muslim ministers since 1999. In fact I can't really think of any beside Obanikoro and that is just recent under GEJ. Ondo and Ekiti states have not had a muslim governor till date! Aregbe and Amosu of Osun and Ogun state are the first muslim governors of those states since 1999. Are the SW people complaining? No - because what is important to us is good governance. Let's not resurrect this nonsense of religious politics that nearly turned urgly. Whoever is capable should be nominated irrespective of his/her religious affiliation. And BTW, I am a muslim 6 Likes |

HammerTheirPapa:No they are not the problem,we northerners also prefer yoruba to be president than igbo.this is what we called political understanding.back to the topic;a yoruba muslim can be present of nigeria and we northern muslim can select a northern christian with liberal mind to be vice president e.g dogara, jerry gana e.t.c 1 Like |

HammerTheirPapa: In Yoruba land, you're indoctrinated from birth that your tribe is your primary affiliation. Religious affiliation is at best, secondary. I don't see how religion is the issue, as you claimed. That's assuming you're even Yoruba to begin with. They are way too sophisticated to play petty! 1 Like |

hajbash:If that should be the case the South will rule for Good 16yrs. Coz this your calculation can only be achieved when a christain from the south finish his tenure. Can the North endure it? |

jaymichael:My broda, that's how lucky we are. The silly politics of religion is not too much in our culture. until recently, I too didn't know Ajimobi of Oyo is a muslim. Religion has never been a cause of political violence in SW even as the population of both religions are about equal. By focusing on religion, we are unknowingly adding a dangerous variable into the equation. When that crazy FFK didn't have anything tangible to campaign with, he resorted to saying APC gov are 80% muslims. Is that what made Lagos (ruled by muslims since 1999) the 5th largest economy in Africa? What about Ogun state that has been dubbed the industrial hub of Nigeria which has been ruled by Christians since 1999 (until Amosu came on board). Hopefully, we won't descend low to make a mockery of the divine like the one in the picture 2 Likes

Movic1:Where in my response did I say u are complaining? Movic1:The fact u are pointing at is pretty obvious and in fact has been on for a long time. That is why I gave those examples. Its not new and its not news. But by ringing it up, you may be awakening some people who otherwise have been indifferent to the religion of their leaders. This is not what we need. What we need is good governance and hopefully regional autonomy. |

ckmayoca:Your logic is so baseless. Is it only muslims that call gej an I-B? So by your twisted logic, "The Economist" that coined the word is a muslim magazine and filled with muslims abi? May God cure you of the bufooness passed on to you by the one and only I-B The government has cracked down on corruption, which had flourished under the previous president, Goodluck Jonathan, an ineffectual buffoon who let politicians and their cronies fill their pockets with impunity. Lai Mohammed, a minister, reckons that just 55 people stole $6.8 billion from the public purse over seven recent years. 1 Like |
