Kobojunkie:did i hear you say REAL INFORMATION? if you think having REAL INFORMATION before hand is important then it means the only way we can obtain the information is when the individual has been tested by having a handwork on the nation in one way or the other. only the old and popular politicans can give us that real information you desire because their ideas and principles have long been made known to us. go back to what buhari stood for when he was head of state and make an assessment. |

eina: I disagree. Having real information simply means having actual data/information about the person to work with. And no, a person does not necessarily have to have been in office for anyone to gauge if he is a potentially good candidate or not. I know the jury is still out on him but a good example is Obama. That man has next to no record in politics to show before he became president. You only need to consider the persons background, work history, family history to figure out the kind of person that person is and where best to place the person. We currently do not check the history and achievements of our leaders before we let them in the door. We have opened the door to murderers and criminals. Why be afraid of considering REAL information this time around? eina: No. Even novices have history and information to offer. That is why companies out here do background checks on people with experience and none. They consult the past of these men /women looking to get a seat in their companies to figure out if these people will be potential headaches or a gift to their companies. What did Buhari stand for? I remember well the Buhari-Idiaghon regime was mostly headed by Idiaghon. I am not sure what you mean when you say I should go back to what Buhari stood for. |

PROJECT: Sorry Sir but you typify the problem with Nigeria today. You are busy touting Chris Okotie who is at best an unknown quantity ( and Lord knows Nigeria , from its bitter experience with Yar Adua , cannot afford another untested hand) while you totally ignore Fashola who is proving , through visionary hardwork , to be head and shoulder above everyone else as an example of what a Nigerian leader should be !!! What is wrong with us Nigerians that makes us pledge our support along ethnic and partisan lines? When are we going to become politically mature enough to rise above bigotry, ethnicity, nepotism , favouritism, partisanship and vested interest in recognising that the best performers must get the best jobs? Can't we understand that this is the difference responsible for the progress nations like Ghana, Benin, et al are making currently? I.e promoting their best men while we stifle ours? If we Nigerians know how to think pragmatically then we should all conclude with one voice that , based on what we have seen so far , it must be Fashola. This nation is moving towards becoming a failed state and if Nigerians understand critical thinking they will realise that this is not a time to elect those who want to learn on the Job (like Yar Adua). This is the time to chose a proven performer who knows exactly what he wants to achieve and has a feasibility blueprint to that effects. The talks of going to search for 'unrecycled' leaders (as one forumer argued) is totally foolish in how it does not take into account Nigeria's extremely precarious situation . Yes, some names come to mind but if we all acknowledge how seriously on the brink of collapse Nigeria is we will not f.uck around experimenting - as OBJ did to our detriment. We will simply , Fire Brigade style, get the most competent performer around (Fashola) and plead with him to take the job before all our current problems overwhelm us and tip us into complete anarchy. Some of the things Fashola advocates (like deregulation of the power sector, true federalism, State Policing as seen in the USA, PPP Utilisation -explained below , etc) shows that , with his excellent performance so far , he is the man for the top Job. http://www.pppcouncil.ca/aboutPPP_definition.asp Public-private partnership : A cooperative venture between the public and private sectors, built on the expertise of each partner, that best meets clearly defined public needs through the appropriate allocation of resources, risks and rewards. |
