A court in Abuja sentenced a 23 year old car washer (Mr. Prosper Mofor) to two years in prison on Wednesday. Prosper was sentenced for theft.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq gave Prosper an option to pay N10,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crimes.

He also ordered the convict to pay N30,000 to the nominal complainant.

The convict (Mr Prosper) of Jabi Village, Abuja, was convicted for one-count charge levelled against him.

Prosper pleaded with the court to have mercy on him and explained that hunger compelled him to commit the crime.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Salisu Khaleel, told the court that one Mariam Ibrahim of same address with the convict reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on March 19.

Khaleel said the convict entered the complainant shop on March 18 and stole eight pieces of Orbit chewing gum valued at N1, 600 and two cans of Titus sardines valued at N300

He also told the court that Prosper stole a can of Malt drink valued at N120, and N80,000 cash.

According to the prosecutor, the offence is punishable under Section 288 of the Penal Code

Had it been the courts are also swift and commensurate in prosecuting and jailing economic and financial crimes' thieves (politicians mostly); the better for this country. The usual delay on such high profile corruption cases is because corruption fights back. The looters in question use their loot to bride their way through and stall the course of justice. They also use their loot to impose bureaucratic bottlenecks as to hinder prosecution. With an elongated time, most times, the cases are forgotten. Nigeria needs an overhaul of her justice system. Swift prosecution should not only be for the common man but for the rich and all&sundry.

You seeee.... 'Those foolish abobakus' will not condemn this: they are in full support of it so far it is not 'their man'.

Call it witch-hunting or wizard-hunting, Saraki will not escape justice as God liveth: he has allegedly been receiving double salary from FG; God will punish him in double fold if guilty.

God bless Nigeria.
