Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by alarinka(m): 3:12pm On Dec 02, 2006 |
, nice one from hugoboi, but the shirts must fit well, not hang loosely,be well starched[for niger setting!!] and of course the confidence/poise must not be lacking, Ralph shirts are not necesarily corporate outfits please!!they are majorly for parties, picnics,as casuals to work et al, |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by jammin(m): 5:56pm On Dec 02, 2006 |
Then you know nothing of ralph lauren. The name you might of heard of, and it would seem that as far as it goes. |

Man TM shirts are boring, they say the prices are not friendly at 25 pounds? i love paul smith, versace, girogio armani, louis vuitton, polo ralph lauren, hermes , christian dior and my lacoste shirts. Talk about an awards night or going to work or anything wearing those gayish looking Tm lewin shirts or thomas pink. Lots of nigerians wear em becos they know nothing about em and are not really exposed to a lot of designer apparels. I know a guy that sells paul smith, girogio armani, fendi, polo shirts in nigeria. You place an order from him and you get them in 10 days if you are in nigeria. Usa delivery is even 5-7 dasys coz my girl friend and uncle bought from him. This is his catalog http://new.photos.yahoo.com/kolajocat/albums/ Sometimes all these unilag boys make me laugh, wearing a 25 pound shirt and feeling big, all looking like gays. How can you be a real club boy and dress in all that cheap stuff. If you watched the new james bond movie, casino royal. He was dressed all in paul smith, giorgio armani, louis vuitton stuff . You never even hear of Tm lewin when people mention designers. |

here we go with the loudmouth. People should wear whatever they can afford. i think TM Lewin's are rather expensive and Nigerian students that wear em' are just showing off. |

Also check out http://www.hawesandcurtis.com http://www.danielhechter.net http://www.ctshirts.co.uk http://www.pvh.com/Brand_VanHeusen.html Several other shirtmakers abound Personally think TM Lewin shirts are over-rated, seems to me 'twas Nigerians and our flamboyant ways that made the brand popular |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by Hugoboi(m): 3:33pm On Apr 11, 2007 |
Stop beefing abeg.Every power dresser knows Tm Lewin takes the beat in shirts. The vprices show their class. Its not 4 small boys abeg.haba |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by DewDrop(f): 3:44pm On Apr 11, 2007 |
I agree with User86666, TM shirts ARE overrated. To wear one for me is like guaranteeing there will be at least one other person in that shirt either at my firm or at the client! I wasn't into shirt makers per say until recently but now I absolutely adore Hawes &Curtis. The cut is fantastic! and Tom Ford dress shirts are an absolute essential! So my votes go to Hawes & Curtis, Tom Ford. |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by Hugoboi(m): 3:52pm On Apr 11, 2007 |
Tom Ford is a designer for Gucci.aint he? |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by user86666(m): 4:13pm On Apr 11, 2007 |
Thanks dew, the English don't wear TM's as much as we do because they have many other good shirtmakers in their land with more reasonable prices. Most naijas are comfortable following the crowd, unaware of their choices Hugoboi: Expensive price is not necessarily classy. . . would you wear those Michael Jackson's garish leather jackets? |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by Hugoboi(m): 4:31pm On Apr 11, 2007 |
Thanks dew, the English don't wear TM's as much as we do because they have many other good shirtmakers in their land with more reasonable prices. Most naijas are comfortable following the crowd unaware of their choices I beg to differ. This ainta matter of crowd cus i hardly come across any TM rockin crowd. The fact is the English rarely wear TM cus being naturally conservative, they wouldnt want to spend so much on one shirt when they've got cheaper alternatives.Lemme ask a question? How many ordinary Nigerians rock clothes by ade Bakare or Deola Sagoe?Does it make them any less classy? TM is d sh*t and i'd stick wit it anyday |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by DewDrop(f): 7:35pm On Apr 11, 2007 |
@Hugoboi : Tom Ford used to be Gucci's top designer. Somehow, I find TM shirts all look alike- all stripey and whatnot! LoL I'll concede that the British are the true shirt makers and Nigerians LOVE everything British I guess cuz I'd never heard of all these shirt makers till shopping for work in Nigeria. But my Tom ford shirts fit the best, cut for long & lean people with extra long sleeves! Tom Ford rocks! |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by waleleader(m): 11:51pm On Apr 11, 2007 |
i am not a fan of TM Lewin, but i like the John Francombe by TM lewin range. Its kinda chic unlike normal TM's |
Re: Shirts! Shirts! Shirts! by user86666(m): 5:34pm On Apr 18, 2007 |
John Francomb is the creative director at TM. He owned Asquith Brown (shirtmakers) before it was acquired by TM in the '80s. The shirts are fitted and really nice. More money for TM |
