Please people, find ways to reduce the politicizing of all national and local issue online because you’re poisoning the body politics. Party supporters’ are just as guilty if not more guilty than the politicians. The general population are the true power and influence in a democracy. Therefore, can you all not see that, in prevailing poisoned atmosphere, the losers of the next election will be so bitter, they will not accept results, thus leading to a crises that will plunge the nation into war?

The unseemly specter of thick-headed African politicians and their ignorant Support refusing to accept the verdict of elections has for decades provided amusement to the outside world that look on, shaking their heads, as though this is what one should expect of primitive people, playing at the civilized game of self-rule, like monkeys at a tea-party playing at civilized discourse.

This scenario of belligerent refusal to accept the outcome of elections has plagued Africa since the end of colonial rule, leading to endless cycles of coups, wars and poverty, and for a while there it looked as if Nigeria had bucked the trend. However, this current bitter atmosphere is threatening the next election, and looks certain to take us back to those shameful attitudes. Wouldn’t it be ironic that Nigeria which has always seemed one of the leading light on the continent might be the very nation to lead Africa back to those shameful antediluvian days?
