I Just heard this new line from the TUC leader in Nigeria on clamor to raise minimum wage
"A prisoner in Nigeria is allocated #300 per meal.. He eats three square meals meaning #900 * 30 being #27,000 a month.. He has FREE accommodation, FREE light, water and even FREE training.
Here are workers generating revenue earning #18,000 paying for accommodation. With no light and water and send their children to school.. Is that Fair"

So now you are envious of prisoners?

Who told you that the prison officers utilise the whole money to buy food for them?

no prisoner eats any food worth more than N30 a day. The prison officials are feeding fat from having more inmates. Nigeria is a sinking ship and we will not sink with it. Our independent state will soon be achieved. Freedom or nothing

Op, has a point. It means that amount is apportioned for their feeding while the law abiding tax payers and generators or revenue are earning less.
So asking for a pay rise based on this is commendable.

Bro its 300 per day from FG and its under contract, so its not up to 300.The Nigerian government spends a meagre N3.50k to feed an inmate in Nigerian prisons each day, the Legal Defence and Assistance Project has said.
Speaking at a round table for media and civil society organizations in Lagos, Thursday, Chino Obiagwu said that the current cost was increased by the new Comptroller-General of Prisons from the previous N2.10k per prisoner.
The round table was themed ‘Moving Nigeria Towards the Abolition of the Death Penalty.’
“The truth is that many prisoners supplement their meals because all kinds of businesses and activities go on inside the prisons,” said Mr. Obiagwu, National Coordinator, LEDAP.
“If you allow Nigerian prisoners to survive on their ration, they will all die.”
There are about 56,000 inmates scattered across Nigerian prisons, according to Mr. Obiagwu whose organization champions the rights of Nigerian prisoners.
“A lot of philanthropy goes into our prisons, churches like the Catholic church, The Redeemed church carry out on regular prison visits to improve the welfare of inmates,” said Mr. Obiagwu.
