It is taken more seriously because they need us more than we need them. Igbos generally champion the causes of the downtrodden especially those we have close ties with but every time we show our support like for those in the SS or close enough in the NC, that nonsense divide and rule syndrome will rear its head with one sick narrative or another portraying the Igbo as having ulterior motives. This makes us keep silent and try to concentrate on ours because of the constant rejection and betrayal we get. Regional collaboration is key to survive and excel in this jungle called Nigeria. Our antecedents are clear: Igbos are not given to violence and never attempt to provoke same. I love my people because we compete healthily and celebrate loudly when we do excel. We also groom others to grow and spread out because man alone no dey work for us. It's best to work together with like minded brethren, promote our strength and shield weaknesses so no one is caught unaware. 23 Likes 2 Shares |

IdomaLikita: To be honest, I understand people's fear of Igbos domination, a typical Igbo man is very ambitious and can sometimes seem fearful. Yeah, the threat of domination is real. But there are some considerations I want people to ponder over. to begin, we should always realize that we live in an imperfect world, therefore our lives will never be complete. But I want to ask your people, wouldn't it be nice to live with people 'who allegedly will dominate you' but will never kill you, but, on the contrary will have uttermost respect for your lives, your farms and your wellbeing. Isn't it better to live with people who will not marry out your daughters at the age of 9years old, but will seek to support your daughters to aim higher. Why do you want to live with people who want to force their religion (Islam) on you, why don't you want to live peacefully with you Christian brothers who uphold the tenets of Christianity, where everybody will be treated equally. Why do you want to live with vampires that support terrorism but shun people who had never in history supported any act of terror. I just want you to continue in the education of yur people, the spell casted upon them by the Fulani are very strong and it took many years before it matured, so we should exercise patience while trying to show them reality, I've actually had a session with a M.belter sometime ago and it took me almost two hours before the guy started believing me and since the Agatu and Enugu incidence the guy does not want to use his ear to hear anything Nigeria again. So brother just be consistent with your message, slowly your people will be converted. 30 Likes 2 Shares |

1Tkester:FOR starters, I expected ekweremadu to lobby the rest of the PDP bloc to shut down the Senate, refuse to ratify the budget, until the President pay a personal visit to Enugu, promising the people that such would not repeat itself, ever again. That is how it is done in the civilized world. As a matter of fact, ekweremadu would have lost his seat in some countries. But then losing his seat would be inimical to Igbo interests, given the kind of politics played there. 1 Like |

Igbos and Hausa-fulanis are the untouchable in Nigeria and two eternal enemies politically just like Israel and palestine, this two are the pillars of Nigeria disunity, Hausa-fulani have to use other tribes in Nigeria to stampede the Igbos at all cost, Igbos are nightmares to many in Nigeria and the same time a golden asset no tribe can afford to loose because of what they contribute to the economy. If Igbos want to leave Nigeria, it is always a problem, because if Igbos pull out from Nigeria, the economy will collapse, in Abuja now, 40% of developed estate are uninhabited because Igbo business men is avoiding Abuja because of high cost of living, how much more if Igbos pull out of the rest of Nigeria, 70% of houses in Nigeria especially in Lagos and Abuja will be empty. 27 Likes |

Simple reason is because the scale of this recent Enugu attack was unprecedented. Fulanis have been attacking Enugu and killing farmers for quite sometime but not on the scale of the last one, hence the response. 7 Likes |

freeze001:Already was leaving but had to respond to this. If folks chose to sound responsible like this, we can all have reasonable discussions here whether it has to do with criticism or commendation- it doesn't always have to be a mad house where everyone is shouting at the top of their voices and cursing. Well, the thing is we all have our respective principles in life. Depending on who's judging, they can either be vice or virtue. There are certain aspects of man's character which cannot be done away with, vis the desire for uniformity and group identity- it is ingrained in our DNA. What however isn't given to us all in equal measure is the power to control and suppress the urge to allow that identity be the major determinant of the judgements we make in life, the power of the mind to make one literally rise above oneself!! Let me share a brief story with you: Couple of weeks back I was going to the village from Makurdi with a friend. We stopped along the way at his inlaw's to grab lunch. Done, we got into our car, turned the key but the engine was totally non-responsive. Well, eventually, it came down to a burned out kickstarter. Had to leave the car there and use a public transport to complete the journey while it was being worked on. In the vehicle we boarded were some Tiv men and some Igede men, my tribesmen (hope this puts to rest all that Omenka is Idoma crap). I understand Tiv a lot and speak it too. One of the Tiv men was narrating an incident of exam malpractice involving an Igede student to his friend (in Tiv language). He was apparently a lecturer and was so furious about what had happened, especially as the case was dropped at the behest of a much more senior staff of the institution who happened to be an Igede man as well!! At some point, this man's phone rang and he also explained what had happened to the person at the other end of the line, and what official actions he's decided to take- saying he'd go as far as writing the Perm Sec of the ministry of education- he spoke in english this time. Now, this got the Igede guys talking. The fools (while speaking Igede) went on endlessly about how the man is taking the case too far, and that he only seeks to, and insist on holding the student to account because she is not Tiv!! Can you believe that!! What had happened didn't matter to them, all that mattered was the tribes of the people involved!! I was disgusted at the things they said (all of which I can't remember) and wondered if we can ever move forward as a nation with such warped mentality. Now, that is what I believe that poster demands of me, being like those two brothers of mine, because according to her - "ethnicity comes first!" Back to where we were- when you view what she said at the backdrop of events like this, you'd agree with me it is total madness. I can never be that sort of man. Indeed, the interest of my people is very important when taking decisions, but I've over the years cultivated the character that makes me ensure that consideration never subsist over logic and reason- ditto religion. That isn't politics, that is doing what is right. That is who I am, that is who I'll always be. 4 Likes 1 Share |
