I'm a Graduate seeking employment and have bills to pay.. I joined some channels on BBM where I get lots of information, some time ago, someone posted a BBM pin of a person who offers ushering/weekend jobs. Being broke and needing to get some legal and fast money, I added the pin and it happened to be a woman.

She sends BC's of jobs she has and most times she'll tell me I can't do jobs like that cz I'm a Muslim and I wear hijab. She said if I can pay agency fee to her friend, I could get ushering jobs from him.

She has been on my list since February and we talk once in a while, last week she said there was a 3day job in ikeja and I could participate if I paid 7k as agency fee. Without thinking, I transferred 7k to the account number she gave me and even invited 3 of my friends who also paid. I asked her for the address of the venue but she said I should wait till she finished compiling the names of the girls that had paid, so that she could send it to the agent and then get the address. This was Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, we got ready and set out to beat the traffic from Alagbado to ikeja hoping she would send the address since she said the event was to start by 11am. We got to ikeja some minutes to 11 and then she said we couldn't work last week, we should bear with her and she would fix us for this week. I started pinging her and sent her a whole lot of messages but she didn't reply.. I asked for her number but she said she doesn't give her number to clients.

On Friday, she later replied and said I shouldn't worry, that we would work on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. And that she couldn't refund the money cz she has added our names to the list already and if we don't work on Tuesday and Wednesday, she will give us our money.

Yesterday was Tuesday, she hasn't replied any of my messages since Sunday but she has been reading them. But she still hasn't deleted me and the other people I gave her pin to.

What do you guys think? I'll post the information I have if needed.. Thanks in advance and please go easy on me!

If the job eventually comes, good. If it doesnt, count your losses and move on.

Paying for a job is the first symptom of a scam.But sometimes desperation beclouds reasoning,just count your loss and move on.

I really have nothing muchto say than to advice you to pray.

I empathize with your ordeal. You know the nagging truth nudging at the very core inside you. As much as it hurts to hear this, your money, including your friends' is gone. But you'll get back what you've lost, some way somehow. Just a caution, don't fall prey & believe everything you read, hear, see. "If it's too good to be true, it probably is" as they say. I feel for you, you'll have to brave up & apologize & explain to your friends what's happened so they can understand & forgive you in the process but dear, don't let the guilt weigh you down & stop you from having fun with them again. Just be sincere & they'll be mature enough to accept it was a mistake. Some people who pose as employers who can provide jobs aren't really legit. I advise you be on your guard from now on, run a background check, ask questions & NEVER choose to part with your money for whatever reason. The world is full of cruel people looking for unsuspecting victims. Just question everything out of curiosity but still remain hopeful in search of truth & you'll find it. Take care

Desperation is the devil here .. I heard there are some agents who take fees so that's why I thought it was real. . thanks tho

Sometimes the answers lie within. If you feel you should repay your friends & they accept then do & be free of the burden. If they insist it's not needed then it's OK, don't feel too bad. Mistakes happen all the time to anyone. If your friends love & care about you, they would understand. At least you thought about helping them get a job that's why you told them. I know it's not easy, I've been there myself & spent far more. Don't let it weigh on you, it's just life so move on, be happy you're alive & well. It's a story for you to tell someone else.

If you report to the bank you paid into, they might be able to do something. But I doubt you'll get a refund. By the way what's an ushering job?

Secondly how can u not speak with her what if it wasnt even a scam and you got to Ikja then urs or her own phn had no BBM network u needed to call.
Thirdly your friends were comfortable with the situation that u don't even speak with the person even after you requested to have her phn number she declined ?

For jobs, any person who asks for money to get you a job is a con. Many times it will be "registration fee, " which is what you paid. Report to the police

I've already jumped into the conclusion that it was a guy that scammed her, and I really wonder what planet OP fell from, how can u pay for what u are yet to get? Even for market, u go first look werrin u dey buy, put am for ur shopping bag before paying the market woman, I need to visit the native doctor that did that jazz for the scammer to control her including her friends as well, that juju na die I swear!

Op HE didn't give you his number because he's a MAN! Most scammers prefer to use female profile cos they feel people are more trusting of women.
