In Nigeria of today, you can now save up as low as N250, 000, walk to a brand new car showroom and drive home a new car, popularly referred to in Nigeria as “tear rubber”. Most Nigerian auto marketers and assemblers now have what is known as auto finance scheme. This is meant to assist motorists to stop depending on other countries’ junks and rejects, known as tokunbo for their auto transport need. You can now go straight for a brand new vehicle.

How does it work?
lead photoIf you are someone, who has regular source of income, working with government, private sector or self employed and can afford at least N50,000 monthly payment, then you can shun Tokunbo and be a brand new car owner. Afterall, cheapest Tokunbo car costs almost N1,000,000. And when it arrives, a mechanic would have to remove its thermostat and get its fan(s) working continuously as a way of tropicalising it. You may even have to replace certain parts. You may have to do some body works.

All these and stress that may follow could be avoided by walking to a showroom of a Nigerian assembled vehicle, pay a deposit of as low as N250,000 and above, drive home a brand new car and spread the remaining payment over a period of 3-5 years, depending on your ability. That is a facility that citizens of advanced nations enjoy. It is now on your doorstep. Most imported used cars were originally bought this way and when the owner gets fed up due to surging maintenance cost, which could b very high over there, he or she disposes it off. But now you can be first owner of your own car.

Rather than go for a Tokunbo car of N2.5 million, why not deposit that towards brand new similar car made in Nigeria and cruise around in brand new car. More so, by so doing, you will be part of solution to unemployment problem in Nigeria. When you buy imported vehicles, you are sustaining employment in other countries. But when you buy a car assembled by Nigerian workers in Nigerian assembly plant, you are indirectly putting foods on the tables of a number of families in Nigeria. You are being patriotic. You are following example of members of Nigerian House of representatives, who this year decided to acquire locally assembled Peugeot cars as their official cars.

You would not be like the nation’s unpatriotic senators, who despite public outcry, egoistically went ahead to acquire for themselves imported cars, equivalent of which are assembled locally by Nigerian employees. They do not care. But I believe you care about your nation, your children, our future generation. Buy Locally made automobile and auto-related products today. Shun imported ones, equivalent of which are made locally. Then, in your own little way, you have become part of solution and not problem of the nation, Nigeria.

You can buy a locally assembled 1.4 litre sedan for N2.5 million. It will come with most comfort and safety features, including air-conditioning, airbags, infotainment, etc. Simply deposit about N250,000, drive home a brand new car and subsequently make monthly payment, which could be as low as N50000 monthly for as long as it takes to balance up.

Locally assemblers/marketers of such brands as Kia, Nissan, Hyundai, Peugeot now have such offers for Nigerians. Latest was an easy-pay auto purchase scheme launched last week by Globe Motors in collaboration with Stanbic IBTC. From Globe Motors and marketers of Peugeot, Kia, Hyundai, Ford, Nissan, etc, a motorist can now acquire their cars without stress by spreading the payment over a period of time.

Theory and reality in Nigeria are poles apart.
Job security is zero
Citizens database is zero
.
How do you expect car dealers to deal
