Luxury goods aren't necessary at all

By all characteristics of luxury goods (both in economics and semantics, at any instance, the latest iPhone model is a luxury good.
That's all!!!

Oh dear, Lok at you.. I dont do online shipping or sending to someone far away.. I accept cash payment only, that's why I gave my location..
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Bossman(m): 6:15pm On Sep 25, 2018
Very true. Actually buying phones on contract is not as common here any more as it used to be. More people buy their devices out right these days.

Ifedith:

Contract or no contract... 1000$ is = 1000$...being under contract doesn't make it lesser bro... Or do you seriously think the price is not debated overseas... Tim Cook was interviewed about the prices in a talk show recently... And just so u know, not everyone overseas get their phones on contract.... wink

apt.
Seeking luxury has nothing to do with affordability.
But affordability comes in when the question of "means of gratification of the wants" is raised.
And that's why a lazy "yoot" can go and sell his kidney or Gee just to buy Mercedes... Seeking luxury when they can't afford it.

Luxury goods tend to be expensive, hence the question of affordability comes in because they have a relatively +ve price elasticity of demand (which is >1); meaning that a slight increase in price leads to a more than proportionate decrease in quantity demanded (due to the availability of substitutes).

"seeking luxury(not demand of luxury) has nothing..."

Does the fact that someone can afford a luxury good stop it from being luxury? That was what I meant by "affordability", not the demand. Affordability isn't same as demand.
Infact, for luxury goods, the demand schedule points to selling few high end products to maximize profits

Let me ask this, is iPhone Xs max a luxury product or not, in economics now
