All these money Lagos generates should make that city better than its current state. The slums are still covering a larger area than the brushed up places.

The money is not much. An IGR of N100 billion in the first quarter of the year, will translate to about N400 billion at the end of the year.

N400 billion to be used for the 20 million people in Lagos is about N20,000 per head.

Government need to drag more Lagosians into the tax net, while some of us are heavily taxed in fore of income tax, withholding tax, land use tax, development levy etc, we still have up to 80% of the taxable residents who are not paying their taxes.

You are a pseudo intellectual as per political, economic or financial matter, the worst thing to happen to one is to think you know, when you know not.

Lagos IGR belongs to Lagos State government.

The fund or income that goes to the federation account for sharing by all tiers of government are the following.
1.IGR by Federal government
2. Value Added Tax, Corporate tax, capital gain tax and other duties, levies and tax by the Federal Inland Revenue Services.
3. Income from the customs and excise dept, NNPC, NPA.
4. Income from sale of crude oil and other exported products.

FIRS generated a toatal of N4.6 Trillion in 2014, and VAT contributed over 15% which is about N690 billion.

Businesses and consumption in Lagos State contributed about 50% of the N690 billion VAT, which is about N345 billion.

The N100 billion IGR of Lagos in the first quarter does not include VAT or corporate tax.

I'm happy you got the message.

IGR = Internally generated revenue.

I'm not a pseudo intellectual neither neither am I a fool.

Afterall, those who call themselves intellectuals are the same idiots mismanaging our collective wealths.

The point is Regional system affords us the opportunity to decides and control our economic growth, our security and the rest.

With regional government the west do not need permission from Abuja to crush the HERDSMEN.

Intellectuals are the most dubious and stupid people you can ever come accross in your entire miserable life.

THINK ABOUT IT.

What is the relationship between Lagos IGR and what you wrote down? Just asking
...............................................................................................................................................................................................

Your GULLIBILITY is quite appauling. You're celebrating revenue that will be taking from you and use it to fund the 19 states of Northern Nigeria. You should be shedding tears because of this injustice.

Northern NIGERIA has the highest number of local government and as such the larger chunk of that money will go to them.

Thanks for asking, MR. INTELLECTUAL.

The point this pseudo intellectual is trying to drive into you is:

Regional government is what we all should push for , where each region can have full control of their resourse, rather than jubilate over a peanut.

I know that your intellectual sophistry offered you no help when it comes to comprehension.

I am surprised that your own comprehension of Lagos IGR, is that the money will be shared by the 19 Northern states.

FYI the money shared by the states are the revenues/income paid into the federation account, local govt IGR, states govt IGR are not paid into that account.

Only the gullible ones will be envious because they do not know how it works in Nigeria.

We are practicing unitary system of government.

it means that at the end of every month, the revenues generated accross the 36 states of the federation will be collected including this one you're celebrating.

This revenue generated in Lagos is a blessing to the Northern part of this nation because the larger share of the money will go to them. and that's injustice.

Support regional system of government or outright division of Nigeria.

With regional system of government, all revenues generated accross the western part of this nation, Will be retained and used to fund the economic growth of the SOUTH west. It will no longer be shared like we are currently doing.

Niger delta militants are destroying oil pipelines because of this injustice. With regional system of government, the militant will cease to destroy their pipelines.

THINK MAN !!

Many of you are poor students of history.

1. Biafra has nothing to do with regionalism within the nigerian1 context, Biafra is about creating a totally different country outside of the entity called Nigeria.

2. We had regional governments before with each region progressing and doing the same thing you are advocating today, but it was another ibo man who introduced the same unitary government you are condemning when destroyed and abolished regional administration with degree number 34.

3. Right before interdependence, ibo people were in love with the same North you hate so much today that your leaders couldn't even wait or listen to voices of reason before jumping and aligning with the North to form the first Nigerian government which gave the North the prime minister position and saddled Zik with the ceremonial position of the presidency.

4. Again, ibo people still were not sarisfied with their own arrangements that they initiated the first bloodletting and introduced Nigeria to bloody coups and tribalism when they slaughtered military and political leaders from other regions which basically set Nigeria on the wrong path and created all the issues we are dealing with today.

5. Fact is, it really doesn't matter what kind of government or arrangements we get into, ibo people regardless still won't be satisfied because ibo people get distracted easily with hatred, bitterness, paranoia and petty tribalism and a sad sense of self destructive attitude.

Even if given biafra today, you still won't be satisfied because as we speak, there's zero sense of unity, love and brotherliness within the entire ibo race even as we see right here on NL. We've seen ibo people from Anambra attack and insult ibo people from Imo state and other ibo states.

How do you form a good and cohesive society when you have no love for yourselves and you see your fellow ibo people as inferior human beings..?

6. By nature I don't think ibo society is socially developed enough to coexist with themselves and other people,Biafra or no Biafra.

You can blame other people for your problems all you want, but fact remains that you created your own problems and Nigeria's problems in general.

Personally, I hope and pray you get your Biafra and be out of our lives.

Only N101 billion (around $500 million) in four months and some are here screaming in jubilation. Impressive by Nigerian standard, yes, but when compared to a world class city like London that has an annual budget of £17 billion, it is paltry. We get to start somewhere though!
we are not London...took years b4 London got where they are now...so comparing wt dem is not ideal

Thanks for that.

For your info:

It is only in Igboland you will see a man paying tuition fees for another man's child.

IGBOS loved themselves more than the Yorubas do and its a fact.

Leave IGBO problems for IGBOS.

you Said IGBO and Nigeria problems were the handy works of Igbos, yet FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF THE ZOO don't want to allow Igbos depart from Nigeria.

The truth about you and your tribe is pure jealousy against NDIGBO.

Jealousy that has turned to blind hate against anything IGBO.

Igbos are hardworking and very successful in anything they lay their hands on and that's why your likes are dying of jealousy.

GIVE US BIAFRA AND SEE WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN.

Kill the hate in your blood because it ain't gonna help you and your tribe in anyway of form. LOL.

i´m really disappointed in the Nigerians way of thinking. instead of trying to unite themselves and think about how they can stop Nigeria from dying you´re here fighting each other on whose state ist better.

Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and pretoria are all helping each other to grow. they don´t laugh at each other.
Re: Lagos State Generates N101Billion In 4Months by bryan1991: 7:16pm On May 10, 2016
igbos are not our problem. it will help us more if we stop being unfair to them by insulting them, or making them feel jealous. we are all nigerians, our tribe or which region or state we are from doesn´t really matter because we are all having a Nigeria passport, Ngeria identity.
