They have seen the model Nigeria has used in times of peace. 40% to oil companies, 60% to government. And these two flash the cash in their faces then take it away to develop their countries, states and towns. Violence has improved some infrastructure in the delta and made a few billionaires along the way. It will be foolhardy to think this will end tomorrow and the status quo returned. Nigeria failed to do the right thing in the years of peace. Is this how other countries do it. We often quote just how many refineries are present in Texas, but do we care to find out the quality of life of the average Texan, how many oil barons and billionaires Texas has, how wealthy the residents of the Shetland island compared to the rest of the country.

It may shock one to note that for this tragedy to have been avoided today the south-south should have been the most densely populated region in Nigeria today, not the Lagos area. The south-south should have been the hub of business, enterprise and industry today. And the south-south should be producing the highest standard of living including the most number of millionaires per head of population in Nigeria, all because it accounts for 70% of our GDP. But the fact that all these are untrue shows the extent of misrepresentation of the Nigerian economy and the skewed policies we have held for decades.

I can't see the meeting of minds on this. The people of the Delta have come to a point of realisation, that nothing can persuade them to take peanuts or food scraps anymore. Its far too late in the day.
if I understand your post clearly, I would say I bet you don't know how many billionaires are from ND and made it from oil in a legit way. You really don't know. The leaders of ND should be held accountable for the underdevelopment you alleging in the region. Their own people. Before one can perform CSR one has to pay some levy. I mean if I as an individual wants to re construct a bad road, I will have to pay some money to some class of people before they will allow me. Would it not be better I keep my money then or perhaps take it elsewhere. The ND should check themselves. I once said it's not about where FG is generating income it's about the mentality of the ND. Are there no manufacturing plants in south west, generating income for those states , why haven't the youths resolve to bombing of the facilities v

There are over 40 oil producing countries around the world including africa.
There are regions all over the world where oil exploration is taking place and the locals suffer ecological degredation of the environment. They seek peaceful means to arrest the situation and most times its not a rebellion but environmental activism.
I do not know of a country in the world that activists have resorted to destructive bombing of pipelines.
Stop oil exploration in the niger delta today and these guys would result to criminal means.
It is on record that majority of these guys are oil bunkerers, sea pirates etc.
These guys do not have the interest of the people of niger delta at heart. The niger delta struggle is just a meal ticket for them. This problem will linger so long as the govt refuses to attend to the root cause of this agitation.
People are not getting value for the environmental sacrifice that they pay.
Their livelihood is been threatened by oil spills as both state and federal govts are not doing enough to alleviate their sufferings. All the same, the highlighted challenges is not a justification for further destruction of oil facilities which will only lead to more suffering.
We all know amnesty was just a temporal solution. We need reconfiguration of the entire system including the economy.
Thank you. Any one that thinks these guys are in their right sense or fighting for the interest of ND needs some mental evaluation. Amnesty is not an option. It only worsened it if you ask me. Only gave many this mentality that there is free money somewhere. There is no free money anywhere.

I understand
Except those ones
With proper rehabilitation

Yes you are right.

Amnesty does not involve giving and sharing money. It was basterdized by the last administration, Yaradua inclusive.

It simply involves.

Reahabilitation

Reorientation

and Reintegration and Monitoring.

There is no incentive that should make anybody want to go through that.

"JTF should not attack and arrest innocent people in Ijaw communities; they should go for the real saboteurs". This is exactly what we're saying, cos we know Nigerian soldiers to be very unprofessional and cowardly, as they'll rather vent their anger and frustrations on innocent citizens.

A simple dialogue to resolve issues concerning the manipulated amnesty could have averted this

True that, but in the case of ND militants a small incentive is necessary. Yar Adua didn't make any mistake

Have you been to any of the ND states? Go there and see humans living like refugees in their own land. No good water, no good roads. And they own the oil we export to sustain our economy

You fight for the interest of the Niger Delta by bombing facilities in the region, further chasing investors away from there.

which investors were there before apart from oil thieves ..?

Monies that should have been used in building new infrastructure will end up being used in rebuilding.

Stop this non-sense, there were never any genuine plans to build infrastructure any where in Nigeria talkless of ND which is the HQ of the criminals office..

You put the lives of the people at risks and expose them to vulnerability.

Omo! Go find EWEDU, it will do you good and may be relief you from hallucinating to death on Niger Delta issues.. The people there are born under vonurability and most lives are perpetually endangered in ND.

Re: We Won’t Stop Pipeline Bombing - Niger-Delta Militants by Nobody: 4:27pm On May 11, 2016
