Organised Labour, made up of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) and their civil society allies has given the Federal Government till 12 midnight of Tuesday, 17th May, to revert to the old pump price of petrol or face a nationwide shut down if the economy.

In a joint communique signed by the President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba and his TUC counterpart, Bobboi Kaigama, they asked Nigerians to stockpile enough food item to last them a while for the prosecution of the current struggle against neo-liberal agenda in Nigeria.

They alleged that those they termed as neo-liberal forces have taken over the government and are determined to make the government collapse even before the four tenure.

If the government fails to accede to the demands of the unions, the NLC, TUC and their civil society allies resolve to commence the following actions with effect from Wednesday, May 18, 2016;
· Mobilize to the streets across the country, ordinary and helpless Nigerians to whom they owe the duty of protection;

· Shut down all Banks, Sea and Airports, Government and private offices as well as Markets.

· Commence indefinite nationwide strike action.

· Fight/resist the machinations and cruelties of the neo-liberal forces in the government as part of the process of saving the government from itself and the generality of Nigerians from slavery.

Nigerians were advised to stock sufficient food items that will last for a while for the prosecution of the ” current struggle against neo-liberal agenda in Nigeria”.

He said the singular act of “mindless pump price increase is a betrayal of trust on the part of the government.

How much can a government worker who earns N36000 a month (twice the minimum wage) gather to stockpile food items on the 16th of May. When most workers are already looking up for the next wage.

Considering the current prices of food prices this is a DOA protest. All the people who could have sponsered it are hiding from the long arms of the law.

You did strike against casualisation of worker and bad working conditions in different work places. You have not stroke against corrupt officers and those who bought jeeps double the price.

NLC and TUC as they standalone this time, should seek for dialogue with the FG. PMB wont blink.

Rubbish, afterall their mouthaction, they will only strike for three days and then reach an agreement with FG for the price to be pegged at 110naira. But so far as the strike will make APC nairaland FC to drop about 45 points, then carryon.

The prices of everything in the market have skyrocketed, while salary remains constant.
So, NLC, how are we going to stock the house with food.

Better negotiate salary increment instead of this strike with empty stomach.

PMB is fighting corruption for the benefit of the common Nigerian yeah? I dont mind the removal of subsidy , also dont mind if fuel is N200 but how about channeling that money recoverd to add directly into salaries , wages , and stipends of workers, corpers, hospitals ie redusal of cost of drugs, hospital cards, consultation and all round medical bills, schools ie fees and material , agricultural produce and imports rather than to shot down economy. people will die oh.PMB has shown that he is too stubborn to bend to any union's demands or to even care if anyone dies or go to jail. qbeg leave us as Fela defined nigerians.

You're not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you ignore reality. We all know the common man on the street can't defend himself much,but they can make the government listen.Things are hard my brother, be realistic.
