D2diff: What Niger Delta's tune did he dance to when he refused to support resource control which was the Niger Delta's most prioritized demand? The Original agreement was to give power to Igbos after just one term and not the North. It was towards the end of his tenure he reneged and termed it a gentleman agreement between him and Igbos. Of course SNC is not synonymous with the interest of the "One-Nigerianists" chief among whom OBJ is. And guess what.... The Northerners have become the advocates of "one Nigeria" even though Igbos introduced it. So one Nigeria is a now more of a Northern interest than Southern. If you knew we should stop talking about this why did you pick up the arguement with my post in the first instance? |

Normally they are not lazy. Historically, no African could afford to be lazy. The task of fishing is one of the hardest traditional means of livelihood I know of. Going out in the night when others are asleep. Using your hands as the fuel to propel your travel into the sea, etc, etc. It is just hard + dangerours (sometimes there are storms) But what you see (and what gov Dickson is trying to describe) is an entitlement mentality. That is what translates into expecting so much to be done for them on account of the perpetual exploration that has gone on in their area, and on which the country has depended 3 Likes |

solibayo:Lagos state? I laugh. The money that was used to develop Lagos to is present state was from where? Or do u think Lagos just suddenly became the commercial headquarters of Nigeria or have u forgotten that it was the former hq of the federation therefore it enjoyed a disproportionate share of national dev compared to other states? If it was built only through hardwork why has other states not been able to replicate the success of Lagos? 1 Like |

mark3009: Abuja has been a federal capital for more than 25 years. Why has the FG been unable to replicate the so called Lagos magic in Abuja? Why has Abuja failed to become a commercial and industrial hub like Lagos? Why is abuja still a civil service town with no financial, manufacturing or service based economy of its own? What is Abuja's IGR if there is indeed any? There is very little federal infrastructure in Lagos. What you fail to understand is that the most developed parts of Lagos and SW was built by the then Western Region under Awolowo. All the industrial estates at Ilupeju, Apapa, Ikeja, Matori, Agbara, Sango Ota, Sagamu, Ewekoro, were built by the Western Region and not the FG. This is why Lagos and Ogun are industrialized. In fact, the erstwhile federal capital was limited to Victoria Island, Ikoyi, marina, Lagos Island. All other parts of Lagos was under the Western Region. |
