Former Kaduna state Governor, Alhaji Lamaran Yaro and the Kano state governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general elections, Alhaji Salihu Sagir Takai were arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Both Yero and Takai were arrested Monday in connection with the Deizani's N23bn campaign fund. The duo spent the night at the commission zonal office in Kano, Daily Trust, learnt.
Our reporter gathered that the Secretary of PDP in Kano, Alhaji Auwalu Ibrahim Danzabuwa was also arrested.

Speaking to Daily Trust on Takai and Danzabuwa's arrest, a PDP Chieftain in Kano, Alhaji Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, said they were trying to meet the bail conditions laid down by the commission to free them.
However, Kwankwaso condemned the EFCC's action, saying the commission was only rendering selective justice in its operations.

He said: "If the commission is serious about the fight against corruption, it should extend its operation to some APC members because they too shared campaign money during last general elections. This campaign fund is a tradition in Nigerian politics and all political parties did the same thing in 2015 election."
He wondered why only PDP members are being investigated by the commission, while the APC's were allowed to go about their normal business.

He said: "On Monday, some operatives of the commission have stormed our party's campaign office and conducted a search. They were accompanied by the party's secretary Auwalu Ibrahim Danzabuwa to our office for the search. This is injustice being mated against PDP members.

EFCC does not need to arrest you, you've already been punished. The rice you received was your punishment. The people that gave you the rice used your vote to allocate themselves Mansions, Private Jets and luxury cars. Next election they'll probably give you salt or tomato paste, too.
