Pangea:
Una too like wahala sha!

But on a serious note,
The award for the most cowardly general of the 21st century goes to GEN. OJUKWU!
You cant preach to your people to sacrifice themselves and when it is your own turn, you skedaddle!
That is cowardice with capital C!
Even Adolph Hitler with the same total sacrifice mantra ended his own life by taking cyanide and shooting himself in the head at the same time.

No matter the circumstances, no matter the reason for the war,
You can't just to tell your people to continue the fight to the last man, to the last bullet and when you now became the last man,
You just board a plane and disappear to enjoy your loot!
That's sheer wickedness,
In fact it's witchcraft!

Adolf Hitler killed himself because there was no where to run to after he had finished fighting against the whole world unless he wanted to escape to planet Saturn. He would have escaped if there was any chance to but since there was none, he died bravely. That is what Generals do.

Ojukwu on the other hand had a chance to escape and took it, that is what a wise General is expected to do. If he had allowed himself to be captuered and prostrated like diya before junior officers begging than he would have taken the award for cowardice but he escaped and rightly so. Besides, Ojukwu was a colonel in the Nigerian Army when the war broke out and not a general. Diya was a General.

DIYA REMAINS THE RECORD HOLDER FOR COWARDICE AS FAR AS ARMY GENERALS ARE CONCERNED.

Rubbish.

A General is not expected to break down in tears under any circumstances before a juniour officer begging for his life.

It is not done.

- Abacha was his senior
- They were discussing privately in the sitting room but unknowingly to Diya, there was a hidden camera
- going by what was revealed after their detention by his colleagues, he was said to be the one motivating and giving others hope
that they won't be killed.

Ojukwu did not kill his people, Nigerians did by starvation.

A sensible General will run away if he can or die like a man if no way of escape.

Go figure.

"A sensible General will run away if he can or die like a man if no way of escape"
But Ojukwu decided to run instead of dying like a man . Coward

There was no need to die like a man when there was a chance to escape.

You need a brain urgently if you cannot comprehend simple grammar.

Very common Abacha dealt seriously with him and almost succeeded in wiping off Yoruba race. Ojukwu was his hatchet man. I hope PYO is listening!

Funny that people who could not fight like Ojukwu but instead, chose to be "a$$lickers of the North" can turn around and call the great Ojukwu a coward. The same people have never fought anything in Nigeria and don't have the spine for it. A coward will always be a coward

Totally agree with you!

HurtgenForest:

Ojukwu did what any sensible General should do that is escape if you can but if you cannot then die bravely. It is a foolish General that would allow himself to be captured when he can escape. If Ojukwu had been captured and he prostrated like a geko lizard begging then we can call him a coward but he escaped.

Besides, Ojukwu was not a General in the Nigerian Army, he was Conel who was brave enough to stand up for his people.

Oladipo Diya holds the award for cowardice, you can take that to the bank.

You hit the nail on the head. The entire Yoruba military lacked the courage to confront the Northern hijack of power. If we an Ojukwu in the Yoruba military, Nigeria would have gotten rid of Hausa/Fulani hegemony.
