If the report by The Brief is anything to go by, then minister of transportation and former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi might be swimming in murky waters soon.

According to the report, Amaechi is currently having a running battle over a loan he took from a new generation bank, even as he has threatened to sue the bank.

The report quoted a source who pleaded anonymity, saying Amaechi took the loan to finance his purchase of a priced property on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

The report further stated that the N300m loan was used to buy the property from the presidential implementation committee, during the Goodluck Jonathan era, when Mrs Ama Pepple was the minister of housing then. People is from Rivers state.

A dispute reportedly came up between the Lagos state government and the federal government over the property which brought the loan to the fore

With the bank set to publish a list of its chronic debtors, Amaechi has insisted that his name be taken off the list. The minister was said to have threatened to use the might of his office to punish the bank if his name appears on the list.

The source further stated that the minister is also demanding that the bank wipes off the N300m borrowed, and any interest incurred so far.

Meanwhile , the bank's management has insisted on going ahead to publish Amaechi's name alongside others as one of their debtors despite threats from the minister.

The bank's position is that unless Amaechi fails to make proper arrangement to service the loan, it will go with the action

Attempt to reach to the to confirm the report, before publishing proved futile, as several calls placed were not responded to.
