Kay2009 just discuss with a local printer first. Prices vary from location to location. Futhermore, the printers expertise and method of printing also affect the quality and cost of the job. It is unwise for you to cost it as unit price. Much wiser to go for bulk. Since you are doing it for a select few friends, quality should be your focus, not the money. Let me know if u have more questions.

By the way, for those other illiterates, selling on amazon does not automatically translate to big money. Not all nigerians scam online.

Publish free on Amazon. Com. But please, make sure it is well edited for public comprehension.

The number you want to print is quite low to justify disturbing a printing press for. What I will advise is that you get someone to do the arrangement of your book format in way that you can print on a normal hp printer. If you can get where the cost of printing black and white is cheap it will be helpful for you. After printing the inside of the book, you need to print the back cover on stronger paper. It could be cardboard type or the type used in printing certificates. You should then approach a local printer to have him laminate the printed part of the book cover. Either the printer or those that bind books can then complete the rest of the process. It wouldn't come out in a top notch form but it will meet your target.

You must visit a publisher to ascertain the cost of publishing the book for you (it is my field) you can't use Microsoft Word to know how many pages the book will give you. Since you said it about 34 pages in Microsoft Word it will give you around 68_100 pages with the plea luminary pages (table of contents, dedication, acknowledgement, and others). It you print lass than 1000 it will cost you more, but budget around 250_300 per book depending on the size of the book

If you've been selling on other digital platform, and yet you don't have money for its publication...that's questionable.

But considering Nigeria's economic situation, I may not probe further.

That said.

There are other digital platform you can sell your ebooks...smashwords, kobo, kindle, are some of them.

Consider one thing as a writer...don't just start selling right away. As a writer, first of all make your works FREE for people to read, make them glued to your writing, make them fall in love with your works. When you do that, the trust, and love would have been built and developed in such a way that by the time you launch your work for sale, more than 50% of them would jump at it.

If you think that's too much for you to do, you can begin to write short stories, interesting short stories of say 5-minute read and at the end you introduce your work in form of ads at the end.

Build confidence and trust before you start selling if you really want to make your work of art popular; and if you want to sell to more than just your immediate family and friends.

Another way you could do this is by launching your own blog, where you write short stories, and the end of every story put little ads about your novel.

Better still, if you think that's a long-term, try to feature as a guest writer in niche blog that promote ebooks, short stories, and other websites that promote works of arts. These blogs would be glad to have you write for them, and they'd be happy to launch your work to their followers and even place free ads for you on their blog.

Example of these are: ebookscafeng (Nigeria), smashwords (USA) www.smashwords.com, narrative magazine (USA) www.narrativemagazine.com etc I can go on and on with the list.

But make sure you verify the authenticity of any blog or website you want to deal with before venturing in this method. However, the ones i listed above are legitimate. Any other ones, make sure you verify them.
