According to an index released by Global Firepower (GFP) measuring a government’s military strength, Nigeria has been ranked as the 4th country with the most powerful military in Africa. The list of top 30 countries with the most powerful military in Africa has Egypt topping the list, followed by Algeria, Ethiopia, Nigeria and South Africa. The list is drawn based on the country that has the most manpower, equipment which covers the air, land, naval power and the petroleum to sustain its army among other factors. The ranking system focuses on the diversity of weapons systems and provides bonuses and penalties for things like nuclear arms, diversity of force structures, and alliances (like NATO). Meanwhile, the most powerful military in the world is the United States, followed by Russia, China, India and the UK. US has been the world’s strongest military since 1945. Nigeria remains a weak colonial contraption, With up to 30 millions of Easterners willingly to serve as a fifth columnist to any external forces planning to invade her, in exchange for an independent Eastern region nation. 1 Like |

Tolexander:I thought that war was a war fought with Soviet Union military support and advisor, British military support, Egyptian pilots, Chadian rebels, support from the Cameroon government, support from east German pilots, what I want to know is if Nigeria has gone to war with out any external support and won. The last time they could have gone to war over bakassi they turned down the opportunity citing an ICJ ruling which most countries don't obey. Are Nigerians fooling themselves believing in a military that can only shoot unarmed protesters and starve the unarmed to death. |
