The Evolution Of Tomato Age. by Hardeybohwarley(m): 12:02pm On May 30, 2016
Almost everybody be it history or non history student has heard about The Great depression. It has come and vanished. What we are experiencing now in some part of the World(Africa=W.Africa=Nigeria) is what I called "The Tomato Age".

The Fall and Rise Of Tomato In Nigeria.
Due to scarcity of this succulent, perishable and this all needing goods. The Nigeria Market is experiencing a serious trauma that is if not even worse than The Great depression. The demands for tomatoes are so high that  the price has skyrocketed to an amount  one can even think of, and the Supply is still low. The quantity of tomatoes one can buy with ease at the rate of [#150<$1<€1<1£]is now much, compare to what one is struggling to buy  at [#1000>$1>1€>1£]. What a doom!!

  Effect Of  These On Nigerians.
Most Nigerian has now ventured into many alternatives from the adverse effect of "Tomato Age".Even some celebrities lamented over the hike in price of a basket of "You Know Who". Some of the alternatives  employed includes:
* Use of tomato paste(cheaper and easy to get), some even  go the extent of grinding tomato paste with pepper.
* Some that still employ the service of tomato, use a little quantity, lot of peppers and many onions to neutralize the effect of the peppers.
* Some abstain completely from the usage of tomato..So bad

Tomato in different varieties.

what we are buying now.

what we use to buy.

Possible Solution I'll Recommend.
* Importation of the "One That Mustn't Be Named" in large quantities, by doing so the price will come down to normal and the quantities to be  supply will be stable..
* Planting in large quantities, Farmers should be encourage in the plantation of tomato in large quantity, these would reduce the cost of importation.
* Preservation of the available quantities, this i think will solve the problem most because no matter the quantity imported, if not properly preserved it will get spoilt..
Pray that as The United States overcome the Great Depression, Nigeria and other nation suffering from Tomato Age also overcome theirs.

Feel free to add your own view on how to solve the problem of these Tomato Age..Your comments are always welcomed.
