Abuja, Where It Is A Crime To Sit At The Back. by Nobody: 6:26pm On May 30, 2016
"Oga shift front small,
Driver: adjust abeg, if you no go, drop"

Abuja - This scenario may be popular in some other states, in fact, people may have learned to cramp and adjust to accommodate a whooping four number of passengers in the back seat of cabs. But it shouldn't be so in Nigeria's capital city.

No, it is a slap and a shame to the residents of Abuja.

If you reside or pass through all other Area councils apart from AMAC, I mean, Kuje, Gwags, Lugbe, Kubwa, maraba, nyanya, gwarinpa, galadimawa, zuba, jabi, jahi, and even some parts of Wuse and Garki, you would have experienced the insane situation of four people cramped in the back, while one person rightly majestically sits in the front.

The normal, I mean Nigeria normal, at least should be one person in front and three in the back. Everyone will sit comfortably. Many residents of these areas only complain when they are in the cabs and once they alight, they have forgotten about the experience. The seeming complacency of we Nigerians is astonishing. We take difficult situations for granted, we suffer and smile.

Many smartphone screen glasses do crack in these tight sitting arrangement, not to talk of the very painful experience "the third person in the back" has. That person who has to shift forward, no matter how tall s/he is. This cannot continue like this.

I wonder how members of the force, police, traffic officials find it convenient to overlook these overcramped cars and minibuses. Is it that they have some sort of arrangement with the cab drivers? Or their unions? Is it that they settle one another or collaborate to break the law?

Who can now help fix this issue? Where do we seek help from? It is not a matter of I ride my own car? Or I do not commute through these areas? Be rest assured that someone you know is going through these ghastly ordeal on a daily basis.

The government of the FCT should please do something about this issue. It is not befitting at all to the country called Nigeria.

*just saying*

It is well with us. Some places still carry two in front plus the four at the back.
