Fayose Strongly Condemns Killing Of Igbo Protesters by globe16: 4:59pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
kiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has condemned the Monday killing of over 30 Igbo protesters, who were mainly members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), saying it appeared that President Mohammadu Buhari was turning the people of the South East and South South to “politically endangered species.” He called on the international community to take note of the wanton killings being perpetrated by the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government. In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said there was no justification whatsoever for the killing of over 30 Igbo youths just because they were marking “Biafra Day in memory of the former leader of the defunct Biafra Republic, the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.” He said it was worrisome that Nigeria and its people had been more divided since the advent of Buhari’s government, adding that approach to civil unrests of any kind under the government was causing more security problems in the country. The governor, who reiterated his avowed belief in the unity of Nigeria, said it was unspeakable for security men to have used life ammunitions against the Igbo protesters and went on to justify the murder of innocent Nigerians just because their views were different from those of the President. “To even justify the killing by claiming that the Igbo youths protest was orchestrated in order to mar the first anniversary of Buhari’s government is to say the least, wicked and animalistic,” the governor said. He said it was worrisome that more than 150 Igbo youths had been killed by Nigerian security operatives under the directive Buhari’s government form August 30, 2015 till date, adding that “It appears that President Buhari has made up his mind to eliminate as many South East and South South people as possible and lovers of the corporate existence of Nigeria and its people should call the president to order.” “I am alarmed that Nigerians who were only on peaceful protest could be shot at and killed by security agents and after the senseless killing of innocent Nigerians, security agents could demonstrate their heartlessness by coming up with justifications for the criminal act. “One is however not surprised because every evil perpetrated by the Buhari-led government against Nigerians, especially those the presidents appears to hate have been justified by those who perpetrated them. “We were in this country when over 1,000 Shiite Muslims were killed and buried overnight in Zaria, Kaduna State and the murder was justified. We were also here when over 400 Agatus were killed in Benue State and the President said nothing. “The Monday killing of over 30 Igbo youths is therefore condemnable. Its justification is barbaric, heartless, crude and must be condemned by all lovers of unity of Nigeria and its people. “I therefore wish to express my sympathy to the people of the South Eastern part of Nigeria and I urge them to remain resolute in their agitation for a Nigeria in which all Nigerians are treated equally irrespective of their tribe and religion. http://nigerianpilot.com/fayose-condemns-killing-igbo-protesters-says-south-east-south-south-people-becoming-endangered/ 1 Like 1 Share |

globe16:. Truth is, the international community are not going to do jack no matter the number of helpless civilians this government slaughters. You all should know by now that Africans are regarded as little more than animals who have no regard for the sanctity of human life. Our efforts at self destruction has defied their understanding and every sense of rationality. where in the civilized world would such killings persist, and every elected political official, religious leaders and rights group will not call for mass civil disobedience and impeachment of the government. This country ought to be on a shutdown by now. Perhaps until they kill a member of your family before you realize how urgent the situation is. Nobody but us, can make this government feel remorse for each life that is needlessly wasted. Imagine that even governors, senators and house of rep members are all mute in the face of such madness. We all keep quiet and our government gradually becomes dictatorial. 6 Likes |

globe16: Wow. How I wish this man is a governor in the east. Just compare delta and anambra states govt.'s positions on the matter to fayose's, against the back-drop of the nothern leaders' position on the endless fulani herdsmen invasion of communities. This tells alot about the disgusting bunch of spineless-governors we have in the most parts of east and south-south. 4 Likes |

Guess what..Makarfi is still alive and hale,Shekari had been long forgotten only remembered by his family and good friends. May PMB out live you in shaa Allahu. 2 Likes |

Joke apart,if you conduct a DNA on Fayose,it may turnout that he is Igbo. His bravery nature unlike where he came from and his steady solidarity with us are the 2 major pointers. Fayose is the only Governor that has asked for the release of Nnamdi Kanu last year,no SS/SE governor has done that. Fayose is the only Governor that condemned the killing of Biafran protesters yesterday in Onitsha,no SS/SE governor has done that. 6 Likes |

meanwhile, Anambra state government in their effort to sound being politically correct didn't condemn the act more or less acting themselves to show anger. On the other hand, some so called Igbo Chiefs visited Buhari with their faces beaming with smiles as if all is well with pple they said they are representing. U see them with red caps on top of their heads, shoulder raised high with fat tummies that make dem seem like fat pigs smiling in front of an aboki as if it is a priviledge to meet an aboki who is a president, one not doing well at that, forgetting the pight of the pple they represent. It is worth celebrating a priviledge to assume a position but it is foolishness to equally go about celebrating other priviledges the position assumed accords u. I wonder why Igbo so called chiefs won't see themselves as chief in front of these political leaders and act as chiefs instead of acting as individuals given a priviledge to meet them. For crying out loud, a position u occupy assumes another role from ur individual self. Even if u don't have honour as a person, at least consider the honour of a position assigned to u. Left for me, nobody should go out there representing Igbos with inferiority stance. I wish our youths would learn and stop shouting here and there when other tribes deal with our Igbo elites as they don't speak for us in our plights. Imagine everybody kept quiet as if those lives wasted by fulani forces do not matter. Thank God man is not the supreme being. Most Igbo political elites are fools 1 Like |
