That's cos they are very independent minded and don' t like weaving their lives around a singular person or entity.

They don't like being depended on (they see that as a burden) and don't like being dependant on other people (they see it as laziness)

In their mind, every igbo man who is capable of setting up a house and maintaining it is the king of his house... Nobody have the right to come and say he is the ruler or master of another man's house.

So those who want recognition, respect, wealth and chieftancy titles will have to work very hard for It. For example, if you want to be a small chief, your barn must contain 1,000 tubers of yam. ... If you want to be a high chief, your barn must contain 10,000 yam tubers.

So everybody start competing in one way or the other to be the master of a trade so that others will not look down on him.

If you build a fine house today, your neighbor will not want to be outdone so he will sell his 10,000 yams and build a bigger house that is better than your own. Everyone start competing against his brother and try to be better....

Unfortunately, when igbo, travel out to other places in their pursuit of better life... They take their competitive spirit along...

Ijaw people who is only pre-occupaid with fishing or yoruba man who is only concerned witj his farm will be shocked when they wake up one morning and see that the igbo man that came not long ago has built a big House and brought a new car..

They will start saying igbo like money, igbo are proud, igbo want to dominate them... But that is not true.
