Bill To Extend JAMB Results Validity To 3 Years Passes Second Reading(Snapshots) by IamChuzzy(m): 8:45am On Jun 02, 2016
A bill which if passed will extend the validity of results from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB, to three years from the one year it presently stands on, passed second reading in the senate yesterday June 1st. The bill is being sponsored by Senator Joshua Lidani from Gombe.

During the deliberations on the bill, Senator Sam Egwu said he supports the bill but that the extension of the JAMB results to three years will cause more confusion as most of the Universities, particularly the government owned schools, have limited space.

Senate President Bukola Saraki spoke in favor of the bill. The senators later voted in support of the bill and then forwarded it to the senate tertiary education and TET Fund committee for further legislative input.

Good but this isn't enough. Another bill should be passed to make provisions for at least 2 "UTME"s in a year. Its frustrating that one has to wait a whole year for another chance if u don't get a good score d previous attempt or for some unfortunate reason couldn't make it for the exam.

A Bill to encourage patching of result to gain admission.. grin

First and foremost, this bill should be shut down and JAMB scrapped entirely.

Why is it that in Ghana, a student writes WAEC and gains admission into the University based on just his aggregate scores, but in Nigeria, same student will write WAEC, NECO, GCE and patch all 3 together to complete result than go and write JAMB and then write Post-UME just to gain admission into our rundown and useless Universities like UNIBEN, University of Ibadan, Nnamdi Azikiwe University and IMSU. angry

Scrap JAMB,

Fix our Basic and tertiary institutions.

Stop playing politics with Education. Scrap Catchment Area nonsense and the system of recruiting Teachers based on State of Origin. Look into new models and styles of teaching like IPS, Montessori and more for the Lower schools and rehabilitate our Universities. Pump money into Educational research to find a system better adapted for Nigerians.

University Education is not for all.. Let the Naturally gifted ones go to school Free on a scholarship. Let the Athletically Gifted students get an athletics scholarship and let the dumbasses get a student loan or grant to pay their way through school.

Build technical institutions for students to learn a skill.

Our Senate just keeps falling their hand everyday.. Grazing rights bill, Social media bill, Sex for Marks bill and now JAMB bill.. grin

Nonsense.. angry

if jamb must stay, it all gonna be much more better for them to deliberate on at least 60% fall in registration fee than increase in validity...by this, competition will increase and the mass will be satisfied...A win win kinda approach.

[size=13pt]Very sweet but my problem is that illiterate dullard in Aso Rock.

Since he did not go to a University and does not seem to value of education much,
I am afraid he may decide to sit on it.

Good one from the NASS though

So if i want to study medicine and I score 200 for jamb and medicine cut off is 200. You mean i cnt go back to write jamb again? I have to be writing post ume till God gives me medicine with 200 jamb scores?

Or i can decide to dump the result and apply for new jamb test if am not okay with what i scored previously?

Can u compare ghana's admission seekers population to nigeria. undecided too much competition here, the system has to be strategic.
Though ur right at the latter part of your comment.
