A Christian musician has revealed that he is gay.
Trey Pearson, front man for Everyday Sunday, has opened up about his sexuality, saying "I couldn't keep trying to be something that I wasn't."
In a letter published online by Ohio-based 614 Magazine, the married father-of-two has been with his wife seven years and praised her for supporting him.
He said: "I grew up in a very conservative Christian home where I was taught that my sexual orientation was a matter of choice, and had put all my faith into that."
Mr Pearson, 35, said that he was afraid of his sexuality: "I was scared of what God would think and what all of these people I loved would think about me."
In the 12-page article, he says that he know he was attracted to boys from an early age but ignored his feelings for most of his life.
After his marriage in 2008, he says he learned that he was "never going to be who my wife needed me to be".

He told the magazine that he was trying to be his real self, "but then I realised the only way I was ever going to be my best for them was to be healthy myself."
A number of prominent Christian musicians have also come out as lesbian or gay including Anthony Williams, Jennifer Knapp and Vicky Beeching who have all spoken about their experiences of faith and sexuality.
Trey Pearson said he wants to help others be true to themselves: "I absolutely want to be a voice for other people."
