This is not a promote ND millitants but to portray the rot in our style of governance at every level. I have been to the cities of this Nation and to the creeks and have seen that this zone has built cities and made many people billionaires (legitimately and illegitimately) generally it can be said that this zone sustained a Nation. I think it demands some good level of development (Roads, schools, good housing e.t.c) as this could go a long way in fostering peace between the militants and the Federal Government. FG Fighting these guys wouldn't solve the solution and NIG's idea of dialogue where some people are given loads of cash isn't the solution EITHER! Coz another group will spring up sooner or later..Development is the key to this region. What's your take? 1 Share

When ever we say the oil producing creeks have no roads, water, hospital, electricity, university or polytechnic, hypocrites from the south west quickly create counter threads showing us photos of asaba, uyo and portharcourt. none of those three towns are in the creek. islands like oporozoa, okerenkoko, ugborodo, escravos, burutu, forcados, brass, tebida and a thousand more make up what we call creek. none of these islands is known to most nigerians because successive govt just milk their oil and abadon them 2 Likes |

Wicked minded leaders who have no blood flowing in their veins if I am to be the President, no city will match Port Harcourt, Uyo, Yenagoa and Warri in aesthetic and urban planning. Imagine Kaduna finer than Port Harcourt shameless and demonic leaders.... 2 Likes |

Can we have the cumulative Federal Government Allocated Funds for each of the regions in the last 10years. We shall all realise Niger Delta states are their own problem. If you cannot develop your region after 13% derivation, Normal Federal Allocation, Amnesty Programme, NDDC allocation, Min of Niger Delta allocation, CSRs of Oil Majors, probably you need Merlin to develop it for you. Why was Akwa Ibom able to develop their states but Bayelsa State with lesser population and landmass was not able to? The answer lies in leadership and mentality of the people. Enough is enough of all these cheap blackmail and whining. Let us call a spade a spade. Vandals, criminals and terrorists reside in those creeks. 25 Likes |

All these stories we have been hearing over the years even before GEJ became President. These stories were the ones that made the likes of tompolo and asari billionaires. Am sorry for the ijaws especially since they have produced an head of state, all these stories can't make many Nigerians be sympathetic to their plight like before. Those years of pampering are gone especially since all entreaties for them to drop violence are falling on deaf ears. Sorry these kind of stories can't move some of us any longer. They had their chances. 8 Likes |

These same creeks made Ateke, Asari, Tompolo and co billionaires. Asari went to Benin Republic to build his own University, while his own people in the creek are in dire need of the human capital development a University provides. 12 Likes |

SuperS1Panther: I don't doubt this bro but I still feel there is a cogent need for supervision especially where should be prioritised..that region needs Govt intervention and its not enough to give billions to govt cronies from that region who donot do anything rather I think their development be clearly mapped out in the Fiscal policy of the Fed Govt. I don't think its impossible to do that. You talk about NDDC when was that created? Lastly I don't mean to be spiteful but LAGOS was BUILT with OIL MONEY Under STRICT supervision ,why they don't replicate something like in the creeks?... So far we are mature in this thread...thank you all 1 Like 1 Share |

tomakint:The only reason why kaduna can be finer than PH is because Rivers state has been producing useless leaders; I can bet my life that at least in the last 20 years, Rivers state has received 5 times more money than Kaduna. Until we shift away from this primitive way of thinking that one place looks better than the other because of FG, we would continue to torment our minds and will never find the peace we seek because we have been focusing on the wrong enemy. Lagos was a former FCT, Abuja is the present FCT; only these 2 cities have received federal presence in Nigeria since inception. The beauty or ugliness of any other city in Nigeria is purely a function of the leaders of those cities. 4 Likes |

Ruke1989: Oil robbers! Your dimmed mind convinces you that oil is the beginning and end of humanity...if l hear! My interest is so far from oil, go to the Agric section, that is where l roll! Oil is in my home community but yet to be explored and l pray no one touches it because it would nurture a culture of entitlement amongst my people which will rub them the capacity to explore their minds. Feel free to justify Asari's decision to take money from the creek to go and develop another country, while the people he is "fighting" for not benefit from such capital investment. I live and work in an environment where oil is not a daily national issue but where Agriculture is......so the mantra our oyel means nothing to me, direct your anger to politicians and their cromies who are fixated on oil! 8 Likes |

obailala:what we are saying is the Federal government has no excuse. Arab oil was used to develop the United Arab Emirates. So instead of giving cash to cronies of those in power for onward looting in the name of NDDC without supervising what the money is used for, the government should become more proactive by supervising closely the developments in the creek and there should in fact be a 10 or 25 years development plan just like it is done with FCT. Oil money must be pumped into the creek in the form of roads, railways, federal universities (to help wipe ignorance from ijaw youths), Federal hospitals, agencies of government like NIMASA should move to the creek, create working sea ports, fishing companies, boat making industries and access to electricity |

mrvitalis: Bros what you are saying is funny..of course NLNG,ELEME Petrochemicals,ONNE etc are the Niger Delta. Where else could they have BEEN? Would they site the COCOA and GROUNDNUT industries in the EAST? NO ,it has to be at the SOURCE... These your arguments isn't thinkable. obailala: We are suggesting the way forward for our country. Am saying strict supervision should be in place and a blue print of development of some years should be clearly laid out for that region so anyone who assumes position of NDDC or whatsoever in that region gets to continue from where his predecessor stopped.. |
Re: Mega Cities And Super Creeks (pics) by Ruke1989: 7:56pm On Jun 03, 2016 |
obailala:don't twist it. auditing firms and special anti corruption firms like the EFCC can be specially used by the Federal government to examine the accounts and projects of NDDC for example. The govt doesn't need to pick governors that will increase the corruption since kick back will be paid. presently, there has been reports of senators using their influence to blackmail NDDC directors into approving contracts for them which are never executed. So an independent anti corruption body can stop them giving white elephant contracts to Abuja politicians in the name of NDDC project. The present NDDC corruption is from Abuja and the solution can only come from Abuja 1 Like |

Ruke1989:There is actually a Niger-Delta development plan/blueprint in existence. I wonder how else the FG could have supervised or monitored these funds; the same thing which happens to funds all over Nigeria is the exact same thing that happens to funds channelled to the development of the ND. Sadly, it has always been fellow ND sons and daughters of the soil that squander and pocket the money meant for bringing the ND masterplan to life. For a second, just imagine a person llike Buhari appointing 'someone he trusts' (sure you know what that entails ) to head NDDC or the Niger-Delta ministry?.... As crazy as that may sound, but I can assure you that may just be the only way something tangible can actually be done in the ND; but you and I know that would be resisted with blood. 2 Likes |

Ruke1989:I also said this some years back that the best thing GEJ could have done for the Niger delta would have just been to appoint a very honest person of integrityas the ND minister and NDDC chairman. But in Nigeria, the hands of presidents are usually tied and they mostly end up doing the opposite. Talking of EFCC to examining accounts, that is exactly what Buhari is doing presently isn't it presently being resisted by the very same Niger deltans?... The minds of people are naturally tuned to see things from the paranoid angle, all most people can see is that an Hausa man is assaulting Niger deltans and then you hear strange arguments like "leave him alone, after all it is our money that he stole," and this is largely a part of the reasons why bombs have been going off everyday. 1 Like |

obailala:bros, I think buhari fighting corruption is not actually being resisted. it's the lopsided approach that is being resisted. But if he can sincerely probe someone he appointed into office maybe the NDDC boss, amnesty boss or Niger deltan minister, that will not be viewed as a biased approach. people are only resisting the biased approach to fighting corruption. Nigerians are crying for a probe of past and present leaders 1 Like |

Ruke1989:Let us be honest with ourselves and stop being unnecessarily emotional over these things. Buhari since inception has mainly been after only those who shared defense funds and you and I know that was purely a PDP affair. The efcc hasn't really started going after any ex governor or ex-minister so I think those complaining about efcc not investigating people like amaechi or tinubu are totally not being honest with themselves, but just being overly emotional.. As for investigating the current NDDC minister, na wa for you oo...
