The Management of the Ladoke Akintola University have decided to suspend all student Union activities until further notice. These news should not have come as a surprise to the students especially the student governing body due to the inconsistencies in their administration. The suspension notice comes after the student were unable to control themselves when it was alleged that the SUG e-voting exercise was manipulated or rigged. Many of the school properties were vanderlized.
At an emergency meeting of the Expanded Management Committee held on Monday, June 6, 2016, a decision was taken to the effect that all Student Union activities be suspended with immediate effect and until further notice. Management has also set up an investigation panel to examine all aspects of the 2016 Student Union election in all its ramifications.
Suspending the Student Union activities involves cancellation on the annual students week, which is mostly the only time all students gather regardless of their departments, college and educational grades. This marks the second time the union was suspended after being axed in 2007 due to irregularities in the voting excercise.
