@Fo2
Based on what you are saying, the prices tend to drop as these fellows pull out money at the end of the month.So its a good time to buy before the prices begin to rally back.

Thank you.

Yes you can go to the registrar to find out about your dividend. Not sure that UBA has sent the last dividend though.

@dollyp1cute,
there are still opportunities on the LSE (for starters the dealing costs are lower). In the last week, I've made about 10% on Mothercare. Of course the volatily isn't as high compared to NSE but then I don't want to be glue to the company checking stock prices.

could u tell me the process of trading on the LSE bruvs, most brokers i've talked to here in london deal in heavy bucks which i'm sure u've got cheesy. so how do the up and coming get into the LSE as individual investors, the whole shibang if u please.

A beg o which dividend u dey talk about? They paid some dividends last year around october or thereabouts dont even know how much it is now. If it is this one you will have to request a cancellation of the dividend warrant  (if its not paid into your account direct) if its more than 6 months and get a new warrant one sent out to you.

It is easier if you give your broker your bank account number and the registrars will credit your account straight away so no more tory

All you need to do is call any of the brokers here and open an trading account. You can transfer money online to and from your bank account to fund your trades. Trades here were T+5 when I used to trade here so if you are lucky, you can make money without putting in a penny.

What I don't like about LSE (and why I stopped) is that there are no limits to the price movements on a daily basis which was too risky for me. I bin fear hypertension so I run go Gidi.

How far guys? Please, has any of you received teh daily stock offer/bid position for the day I hope you will upload it here as usual.Thanks.

@All,
Are you watching PZ??  good move upwards, looks like it didn't take much time refueling.

FO2 hope your twin brotehr is still on board that flight, remember you said he was the one there?

WAPCO
Despite the news of theban on cement importation and all around it, WAPCO definitely is the best in that sector. I picked up some chunk 2 days ago, and it doesn't seem to be a bad decision. I never wanted to mention it here for the obvious reasons of the "importation saga", however I was thrilled FO2 spotted it out in his post earlier today(abi na yesterday). It has the lowest PE ratio in the sector of 20.94, has the heighest EPS in the sector of 3.25, having dropped more than 14% of it's year high of #85.46, I think this stock is set for an UPWARD move. Caveat emptor; the investment decision to buy, hold or sell, should totally be your anyway.

Its a fund which means your subscription is part of a 'larger' pool of funds that invests in a telecomms business probably MTN but i'm not sure so dont quote me. Anyway the 'koko' is that Lead  capital will take 20% of the profit or returns which they may re-invest in the fund after which they will distrubute the profit to the subscribers in the fund according to the proportion of your investment. Treat the investment as a mutual fund or unit trust.

Try Barclays Stockbrokers or TDWaterhouse. I can't remember their numbers but you can google it. Halifax too use to have scheme where commission charged was a flat £10 per trade regardless of volume.

Natwest also  have the brokerline share dealing account you even get online access to monitor your portfolio like CSCS and they charge a flat fee of £12-15 and you can also deal in some off-shore shares.

For more info you can visit http://www.natwest.com/personal02.asp?id=PERSONAL/SAVE_AND_INVEST/SHAREDEALING/BROKERLINE_ACCOUNT

TD Water house is highly recommended

@upward,
PZ moving upward is good news for me. I have some holdings in PZ.L and Monday na when they will do their year-end stuff (Maybe that go be my payday grin) . I heard their Nigeria business (an important part of their business) had a 17% profit year-end. Unfortunately, I no get PZ for NSE.

Congrats for your PZ.L, but I don't know anything about the LSE, I was talking about NSE. Yeah, PZ Nigeria reported a 17% profit year-end,(which to some wasn't big enough profit), however it's a very strong player in it's sector with some interesting figures too. PE ratio of 19.75(sector average of 30.81), it has an EPS of 1.27 (sector average of 1.07-second only to UACN plc), I'm comfortable in this one and will watch it toward it's UPWARD move.
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by windywendy(f): 4:29pm On Jan 25, 2008
@all Japaul-ites: That company's valuation is waaayyyy out of whack, and I don commot for that side oh (bonus or not, I don't really care at this point). Twas a jolly jolly ride. Be aware that according to the PO docs, they're listing the additional shares 2nd week in Feb. So make your decisions. If you get out while you're still ahead, you can always re-enter at a lower price after PO sellers go on rampage -- remember those PO shares were given at a huge discount, so even a price like N6 will be enough gain for some.
