Nobody saw this coming, but Microsoft has officially
announced that it has reached a deal to buy LinkedIn Corp., the
social-networking platform for professionals, for $26.2 billion . The
announcement also states that Microsoft will pay $196
per LinkedIn share, a 50% premium to LinkedIn’s closing price on
Friday.

However, despite this agreement, Microsoft has affirmed that
LinkedIn will still retain its distinct brand, culture, and
independence. As a matter of fact, LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner will
still remain CEO, but will report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya
Nadella.
Wondering what Microsoft stands to gain?
The acquisition is expected to add to Microsoft’s per-share
earnings in 2019, but most importantly, Microsoft wants to
integrate existing Microsoft software into LinkedIn.
According to Nadella
The deal is expected to close within the year.
