The Ekiti state Governor Ayodele Fayose has been urged to invest in large-scale farming as a buffer for the state’s dwindling allocations from the Federal Government.

According to Kunle Ajayi, a former National President, Ekiti State University Alumni Association :


“The era of total dependence on oil is over in the country, and Nigerian citizens should be ready to go back to the farm while the government should encourage its indigenes to consider large-scale farming.

“Subsistence and large-scale farming should be facilitated in Ekiti State as we have the capacity of being the food basket of the nation if a responsive government is in place. Vibrant large-scale farming would not only prevent undue hunger but also lead to agro- industrial development which would turn around the economy of Ekiti State,”

He also stated that Ekiti State is fertile enough to be the food basket of the nation provided the right policies are implemented by the government.

He however urged Fayose to make the welfare of the people of Ekiti state his first priority and stop playing politics with their qualities of life.
