Can a true Christian sin or not? Yes, he can sin 1 John 1:8-10 "If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" (NASB). "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" (NKJV). No, he cannot sin 1 John 3:9, "No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God" (NASB). "Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God" (NKJV). 1 John 5:18, "We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him and the evil one does not touch him" (NASB) "We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him" (NKJV). Is John contradicting himself when he says in one verse that if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves (1 John 1:8 ), and yet he also says the one who is a Christian cannot sin (1 John 3:9; 5:18 NKJV)? https://carm.org/can-true-christian-sin |

It's only a christian who can commit a sin. An umbeliever has no God to sin against . He already is an embodiment of sin as his nature . As a matter of fact no good deed on his part can change his state . So it's only a christian who can commit a sin. Either knowingly or unknowingly .by Commission or omission . As the bible declares . 2 Likes |

Good evening, people of God. there is something we have to understand, when we mention the word sin. sin can only be committed wen there is law. where there is no law there is no transgression, Rom 10:4 said for Christ is d end of the law. when john said in 1john1:8, if we say we have no sin; he was preaching to d unbelievers please, because it is impossible for a christian to have sin. that is y after this set of people has recieved christ in chapter 3 he further told them that he that is born of God doth not commit sin because his seed remianeth in him and cannot (CANNOT) commit sin because he is born of God. thereafter so many conversations he told them in 1john5:18 we know (KNOW) that he that is born of God doth not commit sin. |

OLAADEGBU: Ola, what's your point? Do you want to discuss or your just want an interview?Firstly, a christian can sin, that however doesn't make him a SINNER. A SINNER is one with the nature of sin, he doesn't sin...HE IS SIN. to answer the above quote, i remember what God said far back in the bible Exodus 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. Therefore, there is a difference between the 3, I used to think they were same. Sin according to webster dictionary Sin is either a positive act in which a known divine law is violated, or it is the voluntary neglect to obey a positive divine command, or a rule of duty clearly implied in such command. Sin comprehends not actions only, but neglect of known duty, all evil thoughts, purposes, words and desires, whatever is contrary to God’s commands or law." Transgression— The act of passing over or beyond any law or rule of moral duty; the violation of a law or known principal of rectitude; breach of command. It means “to choose to intentionally disobey; Iniquity Iniquity means a deviation from rectitude, premeditated choice of continuing evil without repentance. Most importantly, these three have overlapping areas. |
