I think this appointment follows Buhari's agenda of putting Economy into the hands of the the south-south and south-west and putting security into the hands of the North-Central, North-East, etc

Ministers of communication, health, finance, solid minerals, petroleum, CBN, etc come from the west and the south while offices concerning security are given to the northerners including the IGP

So I'll just implore the south and west to do their best and be found faithful in it. If the economy is bad today, it's because of the south and west and if security is breached, it is because of the northerners

I think this is fairness

The next is the appointment of Chief Justice of Nigeria, the present CJN will retire any time from now. The next in line is a southerner, Justice Onnoghen according to ancient succession by seniority but I heard that some people are suggesting that it be jettisoned now that it does not favor the North to produce the next CJN. What more evidence do you people need to see that this president is a bigot pursuing a Northern agenda? When he appoints a northerner who is next in line you people will defend him saying he appointed the next in line, but when he skips all the DIG and AIG to appoint a commissioner of police or when he went outside the customs service to appoint a retired army officer you people will say it's based on merit. Enjoy the slavery you people have bought with your own hands.

Ur point is baseless, because if it's a northerner agenda, then there r northerners among d AIGs n DIGs....so whts ur point??

No matter how tribalistic a person may be, once he won an election and sworn to the oath of office of the President of Federal Republic, he must be seen and become a detribalized Nationalist.
Am a Northerner as well, but spirit and principle of federal character, good governance and fairness/justice must be complied with

Then why appoint him, they are my northern friends that have been there with me all through the CPC and ANPP days.

At this point, no rational explanation can be given to justify Buhari's appointments. Since the return of democracy in 1999 through Obasanjo's 8 years and Jonathan's 5 yrs, the north lost so much power. Buhari's agenda is to re-establish the dominance of the North in Nigeria. But God lives...

It's pple like u dat spoil Nigeria,
The first thing u noticed is dat he's a Northern, so weather or not he's the most qualified or next in line doesn't mean sh*t to u

I think it's time we start seeing everyone from Nigeria as Nigerian, not Northerner, Southerner or what have you

You sound so civilized, but naive. If the president appoints all Southerners into key positions, will the North accept us as all Nigerians? Please, let's pray for equity, not all these lopsidedness.

Nigeria isn't America; we're sorely divided along tribal lines so much that we suspect everything. This isn't the best, but a caring president would have found best ways of showing he is for everybody. Not this President, though; he's unapologetically 'Northophilic'.

As for the new IG, goodluck to him. Let him serve Nigeria well. It's no fault of his that he was appointed.

Your lame attempt at sounding informed failed. Three names or so are recommended and the president picks one. So, he has a choice... in fact, he can reject the recommendation...
