http://sunnewsonline.com/red-scorpion-militants-claim-responsibility-for-blowing-up-oil-pipelines/ ‘Red Scorpion’ militants claim responsibility for blowing up oil pipelines — 21st June 2016 (George Onyejiuwa, OWERRI) A new militant group called the Red Scorpion, based in Imo state, has claimed responsibility for blowing up two pipelines belonging to Elf Oil Company in Awara in Ohaji Egbema Council Area of Imo State. This admission comes as the militant group had threatened to blow up the Shell Pipelines in Oguta. The group in a post on their Facebook account yesterday, said that their threat should not be taken as an empty one as they have the capability to carry it out, warning that until the oil producing areas in the state are given their due, the oil companies operating in the areas will know no peace. Meanwhile, some of the ex-militants from the area, who confirmed the existence of the new group, said that they were not part of the renewed spate of militancy. According to one of them, who preferred anonymity, “people are angry and blowing up pipelines is no longer news…” 8 Likes 5 Shares

History of Awarra origin Awarra as a community was a child from a royal family which came from Ogbaland(Omoku) in Rivers state, but now in Imo state precisely in Ohaji/Egbema local government of Imo state Nigeria. Prince Oborji ran away from home due to an offence he committed. He wandered through thick forest and crossed “odan” river and settled at a place named after him—Oborji village today. He was later discovered by Ede (the father of Ikwerede people), Okedinma (the father of Umuokedinma people), Okuzu (the father of Umuokuzu people) and Oboke (the father of Obile people). Prince Oborji was asked where he came from, and he answered that “he wandered through the forest to this place”, which means in Ogba language as “awarramohiapiandena”, and this is how Awarra got her name. This event took place in the 15 th century. The people who discovered Prince Oborji allowed him rule over them, because was a prince from a royal family. He gave birth to Onei (Umuonei) and Obor. 16 Likes 2 Shares |

Awarra today is more or less a deserted community owing to cult clashes originating from Rivers State between Icelanders and Greenlanders with families being wiped but yet under reported by the media. The plight of Awarra people is the general plight of Orashi region of Niger Delta which includes parts of Imo and Rivers States. Oguta though a part of Orashi is quite different as a result of early education and self reliance but the cultists are gradually making some encroachment. 15 Likes 1 Share |

The bombs have started going off in the SE courtesy of the Ijaw terrorists. The Niger Delta environmental destruction and ecological devastation is going east. The militants must be trying to show that they are truly one. Blow everything up, leave nothing standing. 65 Likes 4 Shares |

Everyone appears to be seeking the spotlight. It seems the easiest way to grab news headlines is to have some grenades and blow up oil pipelines. Now we have some deadly scorpions ready to sting the economy to death, only God knows what we will have next. 3 Likes |

Report reaching me some days back from the last economic meeting held is tht 15%=#900b has being cut off from ur budget. dont worry,by August maybe 50% will be off ur budget & u willl need to use groundnut from the north & cocoa from sw to fund the remaining part left. 27 Likes |

fulanimafia: Gladly. Just keep bombing okay? I heard there are also pipelines running directly under the Niger bridge. Any pipeline in the ss/se tht carries crude will surely go down this time around coz we are 5% & we want to help Nigeria to diversify. same oyel developed Lagos & Abuja, also sustained Nigeria for over 40 yrs ,so is time to look for other source revenues to sustain our survival coz the real owner of the black gold want to reserve what is left for our future generation. 18 Likes |
