CFIEM Family Devotional,22nd June,2016.Topic: What Should Not Be Found In Christians.Text:1 Jn 1:5-6. 'This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is not darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. God, the father of Jesus Christ( the light of the world) is the father of light, unlike the devil who is the father of lies. Remember, God created light when he said during the week of creation, 'Let there be light' and ofcourse, there was light. Ever since God declared and called for the appearance of light to swallow darkness, Darkness lost its ordinary power and influence over nature and human beings because it gave way for the light of God. Therefore, we can all agree that truly in God, there is no darkness at all! God having created us in this image and after his very likeness (which makes us gods)does not expect any of his children who have surrendered their lives to him to be in or have any relationship with darkness and its manifestation. Darkness represents sickness, evils, sins, stagnation, lack, wickedness,idolatary, laziness,debauchery,anger, backbitting, malice,corruption,lying,envy, lack of discipline,smoking, immorality,abortion etc. Therefore, God expects us not to have anything to do with darkness( Eph 5: 11) becuase darkness is very fruitless. The works of darkness are manifestations of destructions and damnations. Friends, you claim to have given your lives to Christ, yet to still rigmarole,collaborate,enjoy,partake in or support the works of darkness? We know you as a Christian,but you still visit herbalists,unbelievers,sorcerers etc. Are you in the light? Do you always shed your light into peoples' darkness. Do you do the works of christ?. Prayer: Lord Jesus, expose every manifestation of darkness in my life.
